Yesterday I was feeling all housey so I went to Ikea and bought a coffee table and a bookcase, some lounge covers and a rug for under the coffee table.

Well, putting the furniture together I had two cats in the empty boxes, and two puppies helping out with noses, with every turn of the screwdriver.

When all was finally finished (in double the time it should have taken) Sunday decided the bookcase would be a good place to sleep, and Sashka settled down on top of the coffee table. Ruby thought the new lounge covers looked good, so up she went - with her rawhide chew I might add
and gave me a `I don't understand English' look when I thundered `OFF!!!' at her with outstretched pointed finger toward the floor.

When I got up this morning, they'd been using the rug as a) a scratching post, and b) a tooth sharpener.

WHY IS NOTHING JUST MINE ALONE??????

Wouldn't you just love to bring home something they know is for them...and then start playing with it or something? I can just picture myself sitting on top of their new cat tree now....

Yes, yes of course....silly me. But you should have seen me last night, the cats weren't bothering me, they just do their own thing it's a waste of energy to get frustrated with them - and besides, they were pretty much keeping to themselves. But when you have 60kg combined of large interested puppy shoving itself in front of you every time you turn around...well....I could have put them out the back but then they would have missed out on all the fun!!!

Frustrated yelps of `YOU'RE NOT HELPING!!!' didn't seem to register...

Under the cats, mostly.
eep!

On another note though, I LOVE Ikea! I just wish we'd thought a bit harder about our last trip out there. NO car, NO list.... when we came out we had, NO car, NO list, NO money, NO sense.... we stuck everything (including the two tables) on our own backs, walked a half a mile to the nearest bus stop, switched the the train at Tåstrup, switched back to the bus at Københavns Hovedbanegården..... then to the Metro and back to a bus.....

next time it will be different! I swear!

Ikea rocks. I just went back there after work and bought another (tougher) rug (dogs have eaten new one already), and some photo frames and other knick knacks. It's the BEST!

and it's cheap! We did come away with a 1½" thick wooden chopping board too at my favourite price too..... free! We didn't notice until we got everything home and checked the reciept and found we hadn't been charged for it! I wasn't going to complain though
