I was given a male cat a year ago, he had been abused. He looks at me an keeps on meowing. I don't know what he wants. He has fresh water, food, a clean litter box. He is an inside cat. I give him attention. What does he want?

I think he wants some "me" time with you. If he was abused he might be a tad bit insecure. I would pet and play with him more!!

Yeah, if Oliver's talking to me when I'm not making tuna or some other seafood or I haven't asked him if he wants a cookie, then I talk back with him and give him some cuddle time.. sounds like your boy may just be asking for some lovin...

Oliver meows to tell me he wants treats. Tripod meows when he wants to play.
Sam talks just for the sake of talking.
Rocky likes to come up to me, and whine meow. Hard to discribe, and it sometimes involves his little claws going into my upper leg. I think it means "you haven't been paying enough attention to me and I was lonely". He does it when I'm making myself some food, or if I'm on the computer (usually on the cat site). If I'm on the computer i pet him, he jumps in my lap for a minute, gets a snuggle and a kiss, and then he takes off. I don't think with him it means "i'm hungry".
