i bought a littermaid thinking it would save me from scooping but my cat was afraid of the motor and rake and would not use it, so i switched back to the plain old litter pan or kept the motor off the littermaid.

well after watching the video rec here on cat litter boxes I started putting in the clumping litter really deep in two boxes and that worked so much better than the paltry amount that goes in the electric box. I only change litter every 6 weeks and never have any odor.

ok . she now she has hit the six month mark, isn't afraid of the motor and now i prefer the tried and true old fashioned way.

Ironically we are moving cross country to a larger house. We will have three floors and will need boxes on each level so all will be cool. Thanks for reading.

PS It's WBCL and I flush excrement and bag urine clumps and deposit them in a small covered trash can for dumping atthe end of the week.

Not sure if you're asking anything here, but if you are, I'd just put the box I did not want her using where she cannot get to it.

Otherwise, I agree with the box issue. I cannot understand why so many companies think that litterboxes only need to be three inches high. It is a thing that living creatures will be burying waste in, not the base for a feng shui garden! They need far more depth than most generic boxes allow.
