I will be adding my prayers to Jace's & yours for Scream's safe return home. As for coyotes, if you don't have a good yard dog on patrol (could it be that God sent you a black lab?
) you could have your husband to "mark territory" using his scent (or anyother guys/boys - they seem to relish that chore
). I had to do that here to keep the coyotes off the property (we have a very large piece of land, too). you can do some detective work & look for coyote droppings (their calling cards) and just have the guys pee on that marker (just be discreet - the neighbors might not understand) and around a perimeter where you want to keep coyotes away. I know it sounds so unsanitary & gross, but it is communications in a language that coyotes understand and respect. My friend finally had her husband do it, too, and she has to confess that it has been working wonders at keeping the coyotes & the foxes out of her hen coops.
I hope to read a good post about Screamer soon.
Susan

I will never give up, I had a dream that she came home, as for the coyotes, well to my knowledge, they haven't been in my yard (1 acre) but they are in the pasture across the rode almost every night or back in the woods behind me, she may have run across the rode that night but I don't know what she would do or what to think, do you call your cat hairball, everyday for those 32 days? the thought of scream dragging herself and maybe not making quite back home is what kills me!! and she didn't know how to hunt either! that kills me also!!!! i feel so helpless! some friends say if she came across the coyotes she would of run up a tree! where do coyotes live during the day? in dens in the woods? surely she would of smell their scent before any encounter!thanks for all and any prayers! i thought about that with the lab, and taking it home but i haven't decided because i'm scared my other 3 cats may not like him get scared and run off! or if scream tries to come home and there is a new dog here she may not come back because of him!! I love all of ya'll for helping me through this! I will get Jace to mark the territory around here, he already has some believe me! what is that thing with men and boys? i think its a country men/boys kind of thing, as for my husband, (and it's ok)
but we lost him 4 1/2 yrs ago in a car accident! Times like these I really miss him!!! I didn't tell you that to hurt your feelings cause it really is ok!!! And i believe that was great advice for marking terrritory it's not gross, it's a way of life here in the country! love ya'll, Monique

good luck finding Scream

No Scream! It's been 2 wks. Susan and I still get so upset! I can't hardly read any thing on the crossing the bridge forum, I cry and cry! Poor animals! Poor people, I read them and put myself in their place, and just cry! Sometimes I think being so sensitive wasn't such a blessing! I think the sensitivity heighten since the death of Marvin. Boy that was so hard, I didn't appreciate what grief really was until then!
The game warden that lives at the end of our rode told one of my neighbors, that there wasn't a cat left in the neighborhood. Something was getting them! I still won't give up hope though! Susan, thank you for being a good friend! Thanks to all of ya'll that have responded to my post! I believe getting your responses daily has helped me get through this! Love to all, Monique

I continue to add my {{{prayers and vibes}}} for Scream's safety & homecoming. My condolences on your loss of Marvin; I am sure that you miss his comfort & companionship during these days of wishing & waiting for Scream. My words seem so futile at what I'm trying to convey - wish I were closer to share a cup of tea, a hug, some tears, and maybe sneak in a smile or two.
the other Susan

you know, I don't really know how I would react upon her return? Probably fall out in the floor, or something stupid like that! she probably would never get to go outside again! (mean mum) i would probably hold her for a long time and of course cry, cry, cry, those tears of happiness! She has been on my mind tonight alot! I don't want to seem hopeless but I have to ask, when does one give up? i stood at the window in the bathroom awhile ago, it was open, I just listened, and looked in the darkness, I could heard those coyotes, and then i heard nothing, then the dogs around me bark back and forth! the night can be kind of scary, you know! My poor kitty-rat! (that was what i would call Scream, instead of kitty-cat) this not knowing business is for the birds! can't deal!I finally had to pull myself out of the window and the overwhelming thoughts and emotions I had drifted into while standing there!
I can go way out there sometimes! I am really tired of sad, you know I used to have the nickname, "Smiley" cause I was constantly smiling. everytime you saw me! I want to have that back! I fighting hard for it i'll assure you!God's grace, I really don't want you all to think I am a miserable person, by far, I have had a few set backs, but here is a quote from my husband, he would say, "ain't no step, for a stepper" that is pretty country sounding but it has alot of meaning! we all have setbacks, now I look back and think of how i was raised and boy, my parents sheltered us from all of life's setbacks, and heartaches, it's like I didn't realize what the world was all about, that was very sweet of them to protect us like that but... then.... it's like being thrown to the lions or something, it really didn't help for the reality of the world, after we left home, but by God's grace, we make it, sometimes some of us (Me) being dragged by the hair of my chinney-chin-chin! ha!ha! I would love to have a video of you making a numpty (i love that) out of yourself, Susan! Your so crazy!! that made me lol!!!!! thanks, I needed that, perfect timing!! love ya girl !! Mo

After a co worker told me about 3 years ago that his daughter received a phone call from a complete stranger telling her that the cat that was hanging around his street was hers i would never give up.

Her cat had wandered off months previous and was found about 14 miles away from it's home, but because the cat had an ID tag on it's collar with it's phone number thats how she got her back again

So never give up Monique because stranger things have happend

Better start practicing my dance to look like a numpty now!

Maverick was (and still is) the most un-streetwise cat ever.

When she ran away, I was sure that we would never see her again.

Well, she showed up! Tired, a bit skinny and dirty but very pleased with herself!

I always think that if she can make it home, there is hope for all the other cats.

ok ya'll, ya'll are killing me! first susan over there doing the numpty, and now maverick_kitten and her date with the wooden shoes! i know that was probably a joke, but i can sure relate about the man thing!I give! unless that really wasn't a joke about the wooden shoes, reason being is my mom is from holland, lived there until she was 8, we still have lots of family there, but at my grandma's 75th birthday party in Chicago, (where i was born) one of her sister's shows up in the whole get-up, wooden shoes, lil'white pointed, tie-at-the-chin hat.well my husband,(being a country-boy from Texas), when he saw her come in the door , she did a lil dance, singing in dutch, i can't explain the look on his face, his eyes were soo big, it really was funny!! thanks for that wooden shoes comment, it sure did bring back
such a great memory, my cousins and i totally lost it just watching him and his reaction
sorry that was a little off the subject, but what is up with the man thing anyway!
at least your date had on shoes! ha! ha!I don't even know what a date is!
Thank you Thank you for cheering up my day! Love, monique

the only thing that worries me about scream is, we live in such a wooded area, there are so many wild animals that would love to have a kitty snack!that is what i stayed freaked out about! she is only 10 mos. old and she kind of reminded me of a dumb blonde. like you said not very street wise! she was just so curious, and at the same time very cautious, being a feral baby and all! and her mum never showed her how to hunt, she would go outside and try to sneak up on a bird, and end up charging at them and they would just fly off, she would be bewildered. like what just happened? I'm not giving up on her though, i have heard too many stories of returns! stranger things have happened!gotta go get jace from school now thanks again, monique
