I have a dog that is probably 10 lbs that is eight years old. She was born bowlegged and she had surgery to correct this when she was a puppy. Now she has been hopping on three legs for a few days and not putting her weight on that leg. I thought maybe she sprained it, but it has gotten worse. She yelps if I touch it. I can't take her to the vet until tuesday for money reasons. Anyone know what I can give her that might ease the pain until then???

Really there is not much of anything. You shouldn't give anything but what the vet recommends. Maybe some ice of she will let you do that? Can you ask the vet to do a payment plan and just pay a little up front and the rest on Tuesday or whenever? The dog really needs to get to a vet asap it sounds like, especially if she is yelping in pain.

It's really important that you at least call the vet for some advice before then. Because dogs have such a high pain threshold, for your dog to actually be physically showing signs of pain means that it is very bad indeed. Particularly the yelping - dogs just do not do this unless they are in real agony. I'm sure your vet will be able to help you out beforehand - could you ask to bring her in and say you will pay on Tuesday? Our vet has let us do this before, they are usually very cooperative about it.

If she's in pain, she need to see the vet, especially if she's yelping. I'm sure they will work with you money-wise, if not, try a different vet. Good luck

Given there are no other health problems like a heart condition, your vet may prescribe Rimadyl, which is an arthritis medication. You can give Bayer or Bufferin, about 1/8 tablet. No Tylenol or ibuprofen! I don't know the milligrams, but if it's easier to give baby aspirin, just figure out the dose from there. Give twice a day, on a full stomach. Discontinue use if vomiting occurs and call your vet. (Call anyway just to double check)
