Hi everyone,

I've been browsing around for a couple of days and I'm so happy to have found everyone. This site seems to be so welcoming and infomative, I'm hopeful that my excitement/paranoia will fit in nicely!

First of all, I live in Maine and am adopting a Russian Blue kitten from a breeder in Kansas. So far all my communications with them have been great, but I'm just a bit nervous that I'll get to the airport in May and there will either be nothing for me, or a stuffed kitty in a carrier!

Secondly, this is my first kitty (will be 18 weeks when i get him) that I get to take care of all by myself. I'm having a hard time trying to come up with a list of names that I'd like to choose from; I'm paranoid that I won't know when he's sick; etc. etc.

My husband thinks I'm OC (Obsessive Compulsive), and I probably am - I just have been dreaming of this moment all my life!

Thanks for listening!

Hi and welcome to TCS
What part of Maine are you from?

That's very exciting about your new cat
We all understand completely. Don't worry about a name. When you see your new baby, you will know what his/her name should be.

You stumbled upon a wonderful site with very knowledgeable members that will be able to answer your questions.

Hi Renovia, welcome to TCS! I think you will fit in here just fine

And a huge CONGRATS on getting a kitten, and your first very own kitty, that's so exciting! I think everything will go just fine. But I know if I were adopting a kitty long-distance, I would be very nervous and excited too.
Good luck!

You can always come here for advice, too.
I hope you have a good time here!!

Hi and welcome to TCS from another Mainer! Good luck with your kitten. I'm sure the breeder will make sure your new kitten arrives safe and healthy.

Thanks for the welcome~

Are there any sites that give good ideas for names? I know I'll be able to choose one once I see my kitten, but I'd like to have some ideas to begin with.

I'm in the Portland area.

Thanks, I just browsed through a couple of pages when I realized that the last post should give me a complied list! What a neat idea. So far these are the names I kind of like - Aslan, Riley, Stoli, Rocco, Misha. . . . . who knows if any of these will even fit - but it's nice to dream!

I like those names too! Who knows, maybe one will fit just perfectly.
Anyhow, no matter what name you give him/her, you'll love them just the same!
Don't worry about it too much till you get your kitten.

you sure have come to the right place!! any questions you have just ask away - no question is too silly, we have all been where your at now and we all worry that we wont notice when our kitties are ill.

I will never forget the moment I got to bring my first very own kitty into my home (other than family cats I grew up with) - I can understand exactly how excited you are!!

Looking forward to getting to know you and seeing pictures of this new kitty in 18 weeks time...
