I accidentally dropped a full gallon jug of milk on Samuel. He was under my feet and I didnt see him when I went to the refrigerator... and as you might expect he is SOOOOOOO mad at me.

What should I do? Should I just leave him alone until he feels like he can forgive me? or should i try and comfort him? I don't think he's hurt, just totally pissed off.

I've scarred him for life, I'm sure.

He is probably more scared than anything. When bakker first heard the whirlpool bathtub jets -this is the noise they make 20 minutes after the water is drained-he freaked but he got used to it.
Do you have some treat you could give him like tuna??? or ice cream???(just a tiny bit!!)

Samuel will be alright. Just be sure that he isn't limping or injured in any way. Be sure to give him some time to recover and a little extra love.

The first christmas we had Meish she got some christmas beads tangled around her leg and ran through the house with them and they were rattling and slamming against everything. Even now when she hears something jingle she'll take off for under the bed.... it still didn't stop her from playing with the beads this past christmas though..

Thanks guys. He's still a little mad at me, but he isn't hiding and is watching me with his mean face from a distance.

:-/ maybe next time he won't try and jump into the refrigerator!

Whenever I accidentally step on one of the cats or something like that, I immediately run over to them and kiss and sweet talk them so they know it wasn't on purpose!! Works right away and they're fine. Otherwise, they think you're mad at them and did it on purpose! Even if they're scared, go get them right away and pet and soothe them so they don't think you hurt them out of anger. I think it's very important to do this. The one time I was in a rush and didn't stop to do this, the cat that was stepped on took it out on the other one while I was at work - huge fight.... I'll never do that again. For some reason, they seem to understand when you "apologize"....

I do this with my kitties, too... They are very perceptive and I know they do understand when you "explain" to them that you're sorry.... And I also think it's important to do it immediately. Cats can be like children, in a way, very insecure and in need of reassurance sometimes. When Kuri gets scared of new people coming over, and hides behind the fridge, I make sure to call him and coax him out so he knows he doesn't have to be afraid.... Otherwise, I think he'd be there for hours not knowing that he doesn't really have anything to worry about.
