Max is an 8 1/2 year old male black cat who recently has lost hair in two patchy areas...he is a very heavy cat (25 lbs) so I bathe him monthly and in between the baths use baby wipes a couple times per week on him since he can't clean himself properly. I had been using fragrance free wipes for months, and recently purchased scented wipes, could this have possibly caused a reaction and hair loss? He is an indoor cat so I don't think it's ringworm, but I can't be sure. We have a puppy who plays with him but the puppy hasn't lost any hair anywhere. The skin is just white where he has lost the hair, not flaky or red.

What do you think?

It could be any number of things. The best thing is to take him to a vet. It's hard for us to know since we are unable to actually see the spots. I'd really suggest you make an appointment with the vet.

max has a vet appointment this afternoon. I noticed yesterday that the spots look almost identical on either side of his back (symmetrical)...he's acting fine otherwise.

It *almost* sounds like he could be pulling the fur out himself. Good luck at the vet!
