Princess had one of her kittens sometime this morning, but when my daughter found it (on her bed of all places) it was dead. AWFUL! Such a pretty baby too....yes, a calico.

Here is the problem....from what we can tell (we had kittens before, years ago, different parents) this kitten was supposed to have been born several days ago, when I first noticed the discharge. I am not sure now if there are others still in there and my bet would be that they will be still born too. Princess is a mess and Digger keeps trying to hump her. HELP!

I have them separated for the moment, but she needs me and so do my kids....I can't keep them in my room with her.

ANY advice?

I'm so sorry to hear that.
Unfortunately, I have no advice - a newbie waiting for our kittens (don't know if they're alive either as she was a malnourished stray)
I would call the vet's office and seek some advice...
Can you call a friend or family member to watch your kids????

Good luck!

She needs a vet if there are still babies inside. if they are dead inside her they could make her very sick if she doens't deliver them herself... what you need to do is call the vet up and get the earliest appointment, and have him check and see if she has any left.. and then he will tell you whats best to do

I would take her to the vet....if she has other kittens still inside her, it could be deadly to her health. Also, if there are no other kittens, she can be spayed so that Digger won't be able to make her pregnant again. I'm sorry about the stillborn kitten.

So sorry about the little kitten. Yes get her to a vet. Any retained kittens will cause infection and pyrometria which can kill her. Have them spay her while she's in there.

You HAVE to keep the cats separated and have everyone neutered/spayed as soon as possible.

Hi,

This same thing happened to me years ago, and you need to get your cat to the vet ASAP. If she has babies still in her she will get very very sick. Pyometria is fatal if not treated. In my situation my cat had pyometria, and thats why the babies died... She delivered a dead kitten and then had a baby still inside her. I got her to the vet and had her spayed at the same time. Pyometria is nothing to mess with. It is a bad infection.

Get her to a vet now! It is very unlikely that she only has one kitten. The retaining kittens will likely kill her if they are not removed. You may also still have a chance to save some kittens that might still be alive.

I agree with this...take the angel cat to a vet!
I am praying for her. Poor mama! I know she is all upset, too.

I'm so sorry for you and your mother cat!
I almost felt like crying when I read this post! I suppose by now you have taken her to vet after all these recommendations.
I will be thinking about you and your girl, and will be in my prayers!
