I was just curious too see if tardiness bothered anyone else! Its is really a pet peeve of mine. I hate it when people are late. Its disrespectful IMO. I am always an early bird. I am at work atleast 5 or 10 minutes early. Its very unprofessional to be late, yet there are two girls in my office that are late EVERY SINGLE DAY. Of course they never get in trouble for it, and it just bothers me. Like the rules don't apply to them!

I Hate it with a passion!

If i arrange to meet someone at a certain time i expect them to be there OR if their going to be held up common courtesy would be to either ring my mobile or text me so i'm not standing around like a lemon!

Work wise i'm there 30 minutes before my starting time, but you still get the odd one rolling in 5-10 minutes late.

Get out of bed and out the house earlier i tell them!!!

Under the cats, mostly.
I get really mad when people are late. It's a waste of my time to wait around for them when I could be doing something much more interesting and constructive!

me too!!

My father is a late person so I grew up being late for a lot of things. I hated it and was often embarrassed by it.
I am 99% of the time early (sometimes very early) and if I am going to be late I contact the person if possible.

I don't care if other people are late, thats their problem.. unless it affects me then I don't care.

Like on Tuesday.. I was the first one in the classroom, 10 minutes before we even had to be in there.. but then half the class came in 10 mins late, so she marked us all late.
I have never been late, not once.

don't bother saying your going to be somewhere at a certain time if you know good and well you won't make it!

5-10 minutes either way I'm not worried about. We've got a pretty laid back office environment, so with the exception of me (because of receptionist duties) people can pretty much set their own work hours as long as it adds up to 40 or more hours a week.

My mother was chronically late. Well, she was at least chronically late when it came to the family - always on time for other functions. Dad is fastidious about being on time.

Then I married someone who is almost always late. Drives me nuts, because that means that we are always late. For most everything. Then I have to make the phone call in the car saying that we're late, again.

I'll probably be late for my own funeral. Of course, that one definitely won't be my fault...

Seriously, the harder I try to be on time, the more likely I am to be late. I have literally set 3 alarm clocks to get up on time and slept through all of them. All of them! The noise could have awakened the dead, but not me.

I use to be the early/on time person. I'd always be someplace 15 minutes before going.
Now? Thanks to some lovely Late friends I had in college, I'm either on time to late for things.

Yes, I had to accept the lateness...ALL of my friends were that way. Half the time I'd tell them a movie start time an hour before it actually was and they'd STILL BE LATE! It drove me nuts at first, but then I've come to accept it.

all of that. I also work with a gal that is late every single day. We just now went from a time clock to handwriting our time cards. Needless to say - she doesn't account for those 5-10 minutes.

My dad was always early for things, so that's how I came by it.

I am an early person, at least 15 min.. Bf is a late person. Sometimes he'll plan to be somewhere at say 5pm and get there at 8pm!! I mean he's not just slightly late, he's awful about it! Drives me nuts, but I gotta love him

I can handle people being late, if they call to let me know. What I have difficulty with is people who just never show up on time, and never let you know what's up. THAT is disrespectful. Delays happen, we can't help that, and as long as I know you're going to be late, I can adjust and make use of the time, at least up to a point.

The important thing is to show respect for the person or organisation or event you are going to. And that can be cultural. In London it is polite to turn up around 20 minutes later than the invited time for a dinner party. Here people ring the doorbell on the stroke of the time you have set, and if you are not ready, too bad. Yet for work appointments it is the custom to be about 30 minutes late. The same goes if you arrange to meet someone in town, in a bar or restaurant - they will always be late, but it is expected. Now I ask with a smile if we are meeting 'Bosnian time or London time?' They always know what I mean!
