Teddy and PJ have never been close/lovely/cuddly, etc.

Tonight, Teddy mounted PJ. She didn't his, swat, move, try and get away, nothing. Normally when Teddy approaches her, she'll run away and sometimes hiss. This was completely, utterly different - we just stood there with open mouths!

Teddy is 9, PJ is 11-12ish, both are fixed, and were before we got them, so they've been fixed for at least 2 years (and I do assume longer because they're older and were in homes). We think there has been a cat outside our apartment building that Teddy has been talking to - he can't get to her, and he can't really see her (we're on the 2nd floor, she's outside in the yard area, not really close to our windows at all) - and I've actually never seen her, but we were wondering, could the outside kitty be in heat, could Teddy be responding even though he's old and fixed, and is he just acting on PJ since she's the one who is here?

I'm still in shock!

It happens and nothing to worry about. Dumdum (RB & Joji's brother & neutered) used to do that to Joji. Sometimes Joji would ran away, oftentimes she gave him a swat or two
but there were rare occassions when she let him. I don't know why it happened though but you may be right about an unfixed cat influencing the behavior. A lot of unfixed strays pass thru the property and it might have affected DD somehow.

Tilli sometimes trys to have his way with his brother Timotei, but hasn't shown much sexual interest in the girls in our house, exept for me.
Timotei seems a little baffled when Tilli makes his move, but doesn't mind.

Our cats do that, too!
Actually Laura (2 years, spayed) never lets Carter (12ish, intact cause he has some health problems that keep the vet from spaying him now) mount her, but he has started to feel spring coming up recently

As long as he only humps the couch blanket and howls in front of the balcony door for hours
hey, no problem, but his hormones must be raging now - he keeps trying to mount Laura, he even went so far as to corner her in a secluded part of the living room and tried to rape her !!!

Luckily she defended herself well and I put him on the balcony for the rest of the night

I feel sorry for both of them, she must feel horrible with this old guy trying to get her even as she eats a bite or rests on the carpet. On the other hand it must be hard for Carter, too, he obviously is longing for the girls in the neighbourhood and we won't let him...

I guess what bothers me the most at this point is that Teddy is biting the back of PJ's neck, really hard, and it stresses her out. He did the whole routine again today and she growled, he bit, held her down, etc. Eventually she escaped.

Do I let him keep doing this? They're not friends or anything, but she tolerates him, but now with this behavior...

Another question. Swanie occasionally tries to get frisky with Cynthia. She usually puts him in his place (or we do
) What really bothers me is when he starts biting on her throat area. Is that normal? I know about the biting on the back of the neck, but I worry about the biting in the throat area. He seems to have settled down a lot (but, then, I don't know what they do all night while I'm sleeping
)

Actually, your girl will make him stop in her own way. During mating, the tom will bite to keep the female still.
If it bothers you, you can stop Teddy. You can distract him by calling him, or luring him away with some treats, or even with noise.

oh, she does... she growls and got away earlier.

We do call him, and he does stop. I guess since I'd never seen the behavior before, I was - and still am - startled. I'll keep watching them...

awwh, my two boys do the same thing! Normally it's Spliff mounting Fatty. Fatty doesn't seem to mind though! We always thought he was a swinger! *lol*
I don't know what to say about the throat biting...it sounds like he's just trying to be dominating maybe...?
