Yep, I'm finally starting trapping on Carradoc Hall
cats. Wish me luck. I'm a nebiew, I've got 1 trap,
and 1 vet lined up.

Let's hope the popeye's chicken bait works! Setting up
trap, leaving for one hr. and checking it. Hopefully
SOMEONE will go in it!

Then tomorrow first thing, off to the vets we go!

Keep him/her in for a few days (since Sat. Sun
and Mon will be VERY VERY cold!) then letting them
back out. If we get a tame cat that might be
someones... keeping it in the basement and looking
for owner(s). Then off to foster care. Probably won't
release such a one back out.

And, lastly, I SAW Grey at Carradoc Hall! Honest to god.
So... maybe I'll even catch him, LOL!!

Glad to know that during your cold weather, even domestics will be given shelter! Please keep us posted!Susan

NO cat caught, but the bait got eatn!! I think I've got a defective
trap!! Damn thing DID NOT release, not till I slamed the cage on
the ground (after I went to check and found the chicken gone, of course!)

So, I think I either neeed a better more sensitive trap, or help setting
it. Am going to ask for help. Maybe someone can show me... I
did it RIGHT, I swear I did.
Major bummer...

And Susan.. domestics that wander that far from home? Near
a major major road?? Well, they should be indoor cats! And they
should be FIXED!! So, no matter what I catch, its getting fixed
and ear tipped. Maybe even put a collar on the domestic ones.
That way if they go home, the owner will notice and MAYBE
put a collar on of their own, or keep inside.

My pet peeve is *owners*
who don't fix their male cats or female
cats - just let them breed and breed... GRRRRR. If I had it my
way, I think all cats should be fixed as kittens, and that if you
want to breed them the gov't make you buy a licence (VERY EXPENSIVE)
so that you are serious about it.... perhaps reduce the population
problem that way. But until all kits go to homes fixed, there will
alas, always be the unwanted cat problem...

Thanks for the vibes. I'll keep you posted. Iknow the bait works now, so all I need is a trap that works!!

What type of trap are you using? When setting you need to ensure you have the little hook thing as close to the bottom edge as possible, not all the way up.

ooohhhh just saw this. How wonderful you saw Grey out there!!

bugger the trap didnt go off - best to get someone to help you just to make sure you set it up right, but at least you know that 'something' is eating it.

good luck! dont give up hope - it might take sometime, but you will get there

I'm getting a mentor to help w/ trap setting. Then
we'll see. I was upset cause in addition to 7 dollars of Popeye's
best chicken tenderloins - I also got a highway speeding ticket
going out to CATCH the buggers!! Boy that burned me. But
the cop was very nice - he gave me the lesser of two evils
in terms of tickets. Cause I was nice to him I think.

Trapping again this Thursday in WARM weather. Wish me
luck!

And no Grey was sighted at my house in the past
10 days
I'm afraid something
has happened to him, and I'm mad at the owner of the unaltered
male who is scaring him off.

Perhaps I'll test the trap on HIM (the unaltered)?? LOL. Take him in for
a neuter jobbie... let him go...home. He won't come in MY yard
again, LOL. No more spraying either, LOL!!

Cheers all! Keep you posted on my Carradoc Hall babies...

Sad news today. My friend driving by Carradoc Hall saw one of
"My" ferals dead on the highway median. I am blue ... don't know
why she / he was crossing the highway ... there is nothing on the other
side shelterwise, and no food - mayhap hunting or breeding?

In any case, I am sad.
I want the cats to stay on the Carradoc
Hall side... I put shelters and they are using.
I am working so hard.

Please say a prayer. I am trapping again on Thursday - and
now I have the trap working right it will work. I am hoping the
dead cat had no kittens she was nursing... at this time
of year, I am fairly sure no...

There are shelters near the hall set up. Hope the cats USE them!
Praying they do!!

Send vibes for trapping and for keeping the kitties close
to the food/shelters at the hall...

(Remember, I never see the kitties when I go and
feed - only one or two at a time, and then
sometimes not for a while..)
