Do you secretly (or not so secretly) favor one of your fur friends?

I admit, I have 3 dogs and 2 cats, and everybody that knows me, knows that Hobbs is my favorite. Most of the "house animal rules" dont apply to Hobbs ...(I confess that I even let him literally sit or lay down in front of my plate at lunch or dinner while he just sits there and stares at me, and I give him tiny pieces of scraps to eat....no other animal in my house dare even try that trick!).......if anybody plays too rough with him, like my son, I rescue him, and if any of the dogs does anything but lick him on his head, they have to deal with me.....sometimes I feel guilty about the star treatment I give Hobbs, but I cant help it.....that cat is glued to me, and i just cant imagine him not being around ..he is like my good cat friend

is anybody else guilty of this???????

Yeah, I totally favor Snickers.

He was my first cat, he's got a very different and distinct personality, and I am just so attached to him! When the other cats get too rough with him, I go running to his rescue. Also my daughter knows to treat him very gently, because at his age he is rather bony (fluffy but bony) and delicate!

Also I bring him up to bed with me each night and put him in his 'spot' on the bed, if he isn't there already, and he sleeps right there the whole night through.

I almost lost him a year ago due to a crystal blockage and it just tore me apart, so I know to cherish every day with my favorite kit.

I think I probably do do this unintentionally. Sibohan is the cat I have had had since i recued her from a shelter. Duke was my mom's cat and after a stint of the cats living together when I was taking care of a sick relative they were inseperable. So Duke now lives with my and Sibohan. I have been tryint to treat them exactly the same but they are so different. Like Ying and Yang. Duke has become my footwarmer, while Sibohan sleeps beside me at night. Sibohan only wants on my lap if Duke is there. I think I may have a case of feline envy on my hands. But at first I think I definately favoured Sibohan.

Yes! I am very straightforward with Lily. I tell her I love Twitch bestest & there is nothing she can do about it! Twitch was there for me for several years & while I love Lily so much, she cannot replace Twitch. Twitch is by far my favorite. She is such a special kitty & I have put so much time & money into her to keep her alive, happy, & healthy....we have special bond.....besides the one where she looks at me & I feed her!

I actually love them for different reasons.

Leo is my rock. He was the one who started the whole love of cats and rescue thing. He is quiet, steadfast and consistent. He is patient, stoic and yet understanding. Leo is the one I have conversations to (not really with, lol). Plus, he has the "purr heard round the world"

Gracie is my little clown. She's playful, outgoing, cuddly and a little nutso. She's good for a laugh and she's just full of life and energy and I love the way she kneads me and purrs and get all excited about treats and da bird. She's kinda bossy with the boys and I identify with that

Raphael is my cuddle bug. He likes to follow me everywhere. I love the fact that I talk, he meows. He's also the one who sleeps in my bed with me at night and I love that

No i favour them both equally, although some days one gets more than the other.
Kaylee talks, she meows at me, rubs against me, jumps up to give me kisses and sleeps with me under the covers.
Teufel watches and get jealous.

Then teufel will just jump up and give me kisses, sit on my lap and we play ball all day then kaylee watches and gets jealous!
In the last three days though they both come to me when i wake up for pets, i feel extremely special and wonderful, i could not have any other cat in my life!
These two are my rock, with out them i honestly dont know where i would be right now.

If I could only have one of my inside cats, it would be Festus. I love her to bits. Gar is more jolly, and lovey dovey....but Festie "helps" with the laundry, and slept with me when I was sick last week. She gets on dh's nerves with her whiney voice...but last week he was very flattered when she jumped on his lap for some loving. She is my favorite. I love them all dearly, and spend more time focusing on Jasmine as I try to convince her I won't eat her. Gar is a big lovebug...but if I had to choose one, I'd want to keep my Festie of the Westie.

There are definite favorites in the house, but it's really not our (me and hubby) doing. The cats chose their favorite human and we followed suit. Trent is Mommy's Boy. We have our special Mommy-Baby time every morning and night. He's my snuggly boy. He loves Daddy too, but not the same.

Ophelia is Daddy's Girl, without question. She adores him. She sleeps with me at night, but only because Daddy rolls around too much while Mommy will wake up and contort herself to change positions in order to not disturb the kitty. Other than that, she loves her Daddy and Daddy loves her.

I try to keep my kitty love even, but with my parents dogs, I def. favor Willy-- he absorbs all the attention anyway

Well, since really only Bijou is our cat I have to say he's the one.

Mika truly knows that Jennifer (our daughter) is her "meowmy" but lately whenever Jennifer isn't home Mika is getting closer to John and me. She has no actual voice, just this little huffing sound and she makes my heart thump when she "asks" for treats with that sweet little noise. She makes the same noises when she wants to play with the wand and feathers.

Bijou is our special boy but we are loving Mika more and more every day - she's "Nanny's little princess".

Yeah, i admitt to doing this. I know it's bad, but I just cant help it.

Cowboy is my snuggly baby. He's so soft, and warm, and loves to cuddle and snuggle with me. He's sooooo wonderful with my daughter, and has even made me cry with joy. When my daughter was about 6 months old, she was cutting teeth, and was screaming, and no matter what I did, I couldn't get her to stop. I put her down on the living room floor to go make a bottle, and all of a sudden she stopped crying. I peeked around the corner, and saw that cowboy was playing with her. Pawing at her hands with his pads only. It made her goo and giggle and i started balling like a baby, because he had calmed her down. So yeah, i tend to favor him, hehe.

Well I only have Reilly so I'm able to spoil him without guilt!! but when I was younger we had 5 cats and I payed way more attention to my kitty Muggins

I can't say I favor one over another. I love them equally, just for different reasons, and have unique and special relationship with each one.

LOL! I often tell Sheba "You are my favorite kitty - except for Red Cat and Purdy." I love them in order of the length of time I've had them, first Red Cat, then Purdy, last Sheba. But I try not to treat them much differently. They all get their snuggle and petting time.

Chay is my snugglebug, so he gets way more attention than Billy does. And when I give Billy some loving, Chay gets jealous and butts his way over. Having said that, I do try to spend a little more time with Billy when I can. But when one cat jumps up on the couch or the bed to snuggle with you, and other sits on his butt on the floor far away, what else are you supposed to do?

..ok well now I dont feel THAT guilty anymore, since this seems to be pretty common. I love the little stories in these posts too about how the "stars" get their star treatment I do think that Valanhb's statement that our cats often choose their favorite humans and we just follow suit is right on the money. Loved Ashley Jade's story too!!

I absolutely favor Seamus over Gator and Maxine (the dog). Seamus was our first pet together and my first cat. We got him a couple weeks after we moved into our new home. Chris, my hubby, deployed a month later. For six months it was just me and Seamus. I didn't know anyone in Colorado, had no job, no friends, and my husband was in Iraq.
When we got Gator, he and my husband bonded quite strongly, so Seamus was still my favored son.
Maxine's just so darn independent, it's been hard to get close to her.

I feel horrible about it but Samwise is my little guy. We've just bonded in a way Gandalf and I haven't. It's strange because Gandalf was here first. They're just something about Sammy that is so special.

I don't treat them any different though. Gandalf gets just as many snuggles and just as much attention. And has his own special Meowmy time with me whenever I'm on-line at home. My lap is all his then.

I'll kind of be glad when I move home because my Mom completely dotes on Gandalf so I see a bond forming there very quickly.
