Hello all ,
Your advice is so needed and your support ... as I am so so worried..
I took my little monkey to the vets ( blue cross animal hospital ) today
As he was refusing to drink- eat for the last 3 days....
He is a 6 month boy persian and I have him for the last 2 months.
When I have explain the story to the nurse ...she was looking to me and told me ....your cat looks fine, why you brought him here...

Later on , the vet saw him , and they had the same attitude...

they have taken him blood and checked him.
I ve told them about the Feline hepatic Lypidosis(which i read in this forum yestrday, thank God for that!! )and the fact that he never had vomet any hairball, and that Im giving him water and cat milk with a syring....and then she kinda seem to be interested
and stop looking to me like an alien .....

She tryed to tempt him with 5 kind of foods and he was not interested at all!!
The blood test will be out tomrw, and I came home with my boy and 3 cans of Hills Prescription Diet A/D

My little monkey went straight to bed for nap , and I was crying looking at him...just now i put him some food of that and he kinda eaten some .....and made me so happy!!

Whats your advice pls ?

xx
PS Monkeys name ....is Indie

If the Blue Cross vet isn't helpful, find another vet. It may be that Indie's nose is blocked and so he isn't able to smell the food which is why he isn't eating. I know how heartbreaking this can be

The AD is good stuff because you can feed it to Indie in several ways. The first is to take a little bit of it and warm it up in a microwave. When you have done this, stick it under his nose and see if he is interested. Alternatively, put some of it on your finger and see if he will lick it off your finger.

The other thing you can do is mix some of the AD with just enough water to make it runny enough to put through a syringe. Warm this up and feed it to him using a syringe.

Another food you could try and feed him is baby food. Just remember to warm up the food to make it smelly so that he can smell it.

Whereabouts in London are you? Hang in there, we will help you get through this

Oh ,
Thanks so much .... I need some advices ...as I am a learning new mum!

I live in central london , and I am afraid due to luck of job at the moment is the only vet i can afford.
If worse thing happens..... then i will see wht i can do for him , at the beggining of the month I have insured indie with Tesco Pet insurance.

I will keep an eye for the little one and i will temp him later on today with the A/d food.
They have given me as well some Katalax for the hairballs , which i forse him to have some as well

Thats good that he's ate some, and is he also drinking ok?

Katilax is very good as well because Rosie had it when she had her fur balls. The best way to get him to take it is to smear about 1" of it onto both paws because this way he'll lick it off

Does Indie have a hair ball problem? If not, I would stop giving him the medicine and concentrate on getting him to eat first.

Don't forget to warm up the AD first

I gave him water by syrign as he is not interested in drinking any....

let evening come and here i am worming up some A/D for his dinner....

Fingers cross the results tmrw will be nice and without any problem....

Oh so the vets havent said Indie has hairballs!. Without a doubt just concentrate on Indie eating and drinking until you get the results back tomorrow.

If you send a pm to one of our Mentors Tanya(Squirtle), Danielle(Huggles) or Stephanie(Dawnofsierra), they will be more than happy to help you with your pictures

OK. You need to calm down - Indie can probably sense that you are stressed and this will make him stressed too.

What do you mean he hides the food? What did you try to feed him?

What i am going through....i cannot explain it with words...

He is making with his little paws in the floor the hiding food action ( as if he is covering it ! lool)
I am giving him the dry ( he doesnt want to know and eat it at all ) and the Hills prescription A/D and he licks a tea spoon and he is full......and then ny chasing begins

a bit in my finger, worm it up , put the plate next to him....

I just called blue cross, and a vet will call me as soon as possible for his results.......
, now is that so bad ?

OK, the fact that he is prepared to eat is a good thing. You mustn't chase him - you will only frighten him if you do. You need to help him learn to trust you again.

Warm up some AD in the microwave - make sure it isn't hot, just warm. Then go and sit near Indie and call to him. Put some of the warm AD on your finger and let him lick it off. When he has eaten all of this, put some more AD on your finger and let him lick it off again. If he isn't prepared to eat the food by himself, you must be patient and help him either by feeding it to him with a teaspoon or using your finger. If he goes away, don't chase him! Put some more food on your finger and keep trying to coax him to come to you to eat some more. Also, don't forget, if he hasn't eaten properly for 3 days, his tummy is going to be very small so it will be a case of feeding him little but often. Whatever you do, don't chase him!

"The vet will call you as soon as possible with his results" - this isn't a bad thing. At least you will know what is wrong with Indie

Scraping their paws on the floor as if to bury their food is normal, sometimes my Rosie does this.

Don't chase Indie anymore, just leave the food and water out for him, and if he comes out just ignore him, because if he sees you standing waiting he'll never come out, then when he does start to eat sit with him and talk to him.

Let us know what the vet says.

The vet called and told me :'' I cannot see from the blood tests any abnormality, but bring him tomrw and we will asset him , and deside .....if he is ok to be fixed , and whats wrong with him.''

She has asked me how is his eating as well.
( I had booked an appointment for tmrw , a month ago , to be neutered my liitle monkey) .

The liitle indie boy , he saw the plate of Felix and get happy , the moment he started to eat....he stopped again. ....Anyway the thing is that i placed the food in my hand , and following him and tempting ...slowly slowly he eat all .....My hand was his plate!!

So tmrw , i will take him to Blue Cross and we will see what happens ...

If is to be neutered , he needs from today 9 not eat food , am I correct?

I think that its not the right moment for him to be neutered on the top of his luck of appetetite....

Well done Momos!
You've managed to get little Indie eating again
Keep up the good work

Don't worry about tomorrow. Neutering is a routine and straight forward procedure. Don't forget to tell the vet that Indie hasn't been eating properly. Let us know how you get on tomorrow

Thats brilliant
Try and just leave his food in his bowl so he can get used to it.

Have they said they would neuter tomorrow if he's ok or does he have to have another appointment?, because i wouldn't remove his food if he's not booked to have it done.

I have a cat who has episodes of what is probably pancreatitis. It has always been a challenge to get him to eat again. A trick that was shown to me by a vet tech was to get some of the food on the roof of their mouth. It doesn't always work but sometimes this seems to stimulate them to eat. Of course a cat that isn't eating should always be checked by a vet first.

Wish him ( indie) Good luck tomrw pls !!
( we are going to the Hospital) Either for neutered ( I doubt it ) or for extra exams ( most probably )
For good results and for everything!

And me as well , because I m ready to collapse

Ive played with him so much ..... my plan was to make him hungry...
I failed , im afraid .
Yesterdays food consumtion was 5 teaspoons of wet food
Today's food consumption was 3 teaspoons of wet food.!!

How this liitle soul can survive with that?? and be playfull at the same time ??
