Hello, we are new here. Can anyone tell me what to do for a pregnant kitty with pink eye and wont let me touch her. She is an indoor/outdoor cat and can be pretty aggressive at times. I'm afraid to hurt the kittens.

Hello. I am from Ohio too, what city are you from?

Anyway, best thing is for this kitty to get to a vet ASAP.
You can borrow a humane trap from a vet or shelter near you.
If you live near me I can help, I am in Kent, between Cleveland and Akron.
She also needs to get in the house because there are a ton of dangers with her having babies outside. Not only the weather but preditors too. Plus she can get pregnant again super fast after the kittens are born.

Has she ever been to a vet? Is this a stray or your cat?
If she is under a year I highly advize you to get her in to be spayed right away. That way she will not have the kittens because that can be harmful to her if she is just a kitten herself. Plus she just needs to be spayed for her health anyways. The sooner the better so then she won't be bringing a bunch of unwanted kittens into the world when there are already a bunch dying in shelters...and roaming the streets. Let me know where you live and if it is not near me then I can help find a low cost clinic.

Hi and welcome to TCS.

I agree with Jen. Trapping her and bringing her inside (or shutting her in when she's inside) is very important, as you don't want her having babies outside in the cold. Vet treatment for the pink eye is very important too, so she doesn't pass the infection on to any of the kittens when they're born. She needs to stay inside until she can be spayed as she can mate and become pregnant again in just a few days after the birth. She can be spayed once the kittens are 8 weeks old.

Yes, and the kittens can too but some vets still will not do it that young.

Thanks for everyones advice. Her eyes have cleared up for the most part, she let me put clear eyes drops in them. I think she will have the kittens in the house she has been staying in at night and most of the day. I don't think that she can give up the bird hunting. She's about 1 1/2 years old and we plan on having her spayed asap. We are very happy that she's having kittens, we wanted grandkitty's. Thanks again!!!

She needs to stay in all of the time now that she is pregnant. She will just have to put a hold on her bird hunting activities because you cannot guarantee her safety or the safety of her kittens if she is outside (any time of the day or night).

ETA...If she goes into labor during the day while she is outside (very possible), she and the kittens will be in danger (especially because of the cold temperatures) and it is very likely you would not be able to find her nest. Again, I cannot stress the importance of this enough, she needs to be inside all of the time until she is done weaning her kittens and is spayed.

I have to second the request to keep her indoors only for now...not just for the birthing...but until you get her spayed. Cats can get pregnant again around a week after giving birth. You may want to consult your vet now as to an appropriate date to have her spayed (typically when the kittens are about 6 to 8 weeks of age).

It is important to keep her in the house.
Even if you have her confined in a seperate room, a warm, dark, quiet room would actually be ideal rather then the outdoors even if that is what she is used to.
If you live near me (you haven't mentioned where in Ohio you live yet I don't think, I am in Kent) I have a low cost spay certificate for a Portage County vet if you are in the area. It is $55 which a pretty good discount. There is also a low cost clinic in Cuyahoga Falls and a low cost mobile clinic in Ravenna for spaying and neutering all those babies. That one is $10 for males only. Females are booked up for about a year. And they will neuter at 8-10 weeks

I can really help you out if you live in NE Ohio. I hope you do.

If not, I am sure we can find something in your area. I would want to find a low cost clinic if I had a litter of babies to fix.

Let me know if I can help!
