My doctor's office just called me here at work a bit ago...my doctor had one of her assistants call me to tell me that she'd put in a lab for me and to schedule a follow up appointment.

Now here's the background briefly: I had an appt in mind Jan with 'another' doctor who noticed about a year ago my dr ordered bloodwork I never got done. So I did that. Well then my dr called for a follow up. So I went, my cholesterol and whatnot were great. But my white and red blood cell counts were off. She asked if I'd been sick because it sometimes is from infections. I'd been sick a few weeks before I had the bloodwork so she had me get it done again to be sure. She said she would be calling me for a follow up over the phone.

So today's call makes the third time she's asked me to get bloodwork done. I asked the girl who called if she knew why but she didn't. Or maybe she just didnt/couldnt say??? And of course...my follow up appt this time isn't till March 16. Which just happens to be 2 weeks before my DH is out of the military...meaning I am about to change everything from doctors to insurances. So I don't know what is going on. Works been a beast so if I've been sick I havn't had time to notice. Sure I've been tired...but like I said, work has been a beast lately. And yeah I'm feeling crappy because my head still isn't off the boat or the airplane from last Friday.

I'm trying not to worry...but I have no idea what could be going on! Any ideas why blood cell counts can be off? I can't remember if they were high or low at this point. If it were really important they'd be wanting me in there right away right? I won't have time to go get the blood drawn till Friday but I think I'm going to call and see if they will get me in sooner. I mean really...if I need meds or something and might need more follow up appointments I'd like to do it now, now while I'm in the middle of looking for a new doctor!!!

Don't worry until you talk to you Dr. I mean, if it were REALLY serious he would have called you himself and had you come in TODAY for more bloodwork. Right now just assume he is concerned and wants to make sure that the tests haven't been messed up or anything. Or if you can't stop worrying call the Dr. and have him call you back and let you know what is goign on. Good luck!

First of all, try not to panic. There is a lot going on, with the insurance, the doctor situation, all that.....I'm sure you're stressing. *hug*
I think red cell counts being low is a signal of anemia. White cell counts being high indicate some sort of infection.
Don't worry yourself. There is nothing you can do until the next round of blood tests. I know it's tough, but hang in there and don't let your thoughts run rampant.

I am a absolute nervous wreck when it comes to anything and everything involving doctor's so I would probably be trying to get the results faster.

Your white count could be low because of illness, as you mentioned. Low red blood count could mean you're anemic. It's possible they want to do more bloodwork to find out why it is off.

That's what I was thinking too. It's pretty common for women to become anemic and it's possible that's why you are so tired. I'm sure that if it was something really bad your doctor would have told you to come in immediatley.

Thanks everyone. I'm gonna keep trying to keep my mind quiet. I'll be crossing my fingers, toes, eyes, etc. too.

I agree with everyones opinions.
So how long did it take your body to adjust not being on the ship???
My mom has had various tests/bloodwork done over the past yr. She is a nervous sort of person and worries about the results as the drs office's usually sent out letters instead of calling. It drives her crazy-but she always has postive results.

Actually I'm still not feeling off the ship. It's been a bit better today, but every now and then everyone starts bouncing around in front of me.
I keep telling everyone to stand still!
