Been talking to Sar and we were wondering how often is too often for cats to have general anaesthetic. Moss needs to be sedated everytime he goes in for a complete groom and MOT. I wasn't going to have it done this year because I was so worried about the effects of anaesthetic on him. Thing is he really needs it but I'm very worried

It's good that you can get Moss' full MOT done at one time though, which will save him from having to go under again this year!
Aye that's the plan. I've told them to do anything he needs doing all at one go so he doesn't have to keep going under. I'm still concerned about it even being maybe once a year

No, the last time he was sedated was last January and the time before that was the January before. Surely they'd say if it was too much for him and not recommend that I do it again this year ?

I was thinking the same thing! Surely the vet would say enough is enough!

I hope others will be able to chip in too!

I'm going to ask my vet on Friday and see what he says too, it will be good to get a selection of opinions!

I think if it is necessary, so he can have his check-up and grooming, you need to do it. If there is a way they can give you a mild sedative for him instead, so he is just drowsy instead of knocked out, that might be good. But I don't know if it would work, or even if it is that much safer.

It is not good for cats to be terrified! So if the vet visit and grooming terrifies Moss, letting him sleep through it may be the best for him, and less stressful on his mind and body.

It will be good to get other vet/vet tech opinions!
