Weird sleeping habits...

Do you have any weird sleeping rituals or habits?

Every night before I go to bed my hands and feet seem to get instantly dry, so I always put cream on both before I hop under the covers. Then I always have to read - always - even if it's just a page or two. And then I fall asleep on my tummy with a pillow lengthways underneath me, with my arm around it, and Sunday asleep on my back. Ahhhhh lovely.

Maxey has to have COMPLETE silence and darkness - he wears an eye patch and earplugs...lol!

He also is the funniest sleep talker ever. Every time I move at night he says something to me in gibberish. And every time he turns over he has to reach for my hand or put his arm around me or something, otherwise he frets in his sleep....so cute awwwww.

So, what kind of rituals and traditions do YOU have for your sleepy time?

John is a sleep talker too! Usually I just lay there and laugh cuz its so funny! Now he works 3rd shift so he sleeps from 7PM til 10PM when he goes to work @ 10:30, and then I go to bed after he leaves for work - I hate sleeping alone!

Usually when I get to bed - I have to put on my lotion cuz of my eczema, and then I usually pile on the pillows - all 6 of them , and make sure that Harley's pillow is in 'his' spot (spoiled, yes) and then I watch an episode of Fresh Prince of Bell Air or Rosanne (whatever is on Nick @ Night) and then I lay on my stomach and pet Harley until he goes to sleep, cuz he sleeps at the top of the bed above my head and I always love petting him and putting him to sleep, just so I can hear his sleepy kitty purrs b4 I go to sleep :heart2And then I lay on my left side, and then switch to my right until I fall asleep!

Ahhh...comfy!

I always start out trying to go to sleep by lying on my left side, then rolling to my right side, before finally laying flat on my back, often with my hands crossed on my tummy. Considering I know I end up on my back, you'd think that's where I'd start out, but no, I have to do the left and right thing. Also, I like a lot of blankets, even in summer. I like the feel of the weight of blankets.

every night when I get in bed, the first thing I do is turn on the radio. I cannot sleep in complete silence.. I hev to have a constant sound of somesort.. whether it be the fishtan , which is in my room but I am sleeping the my sisters room with the pregnant momma cat, or even cars passing constantly on the street. So I turn on the clock radio and it turns off after an hour of being on.
Then (now) I pet Checkers until she either falls asleep, or jumps off the bed and lays elsewhere. And I face the door of the room for about half an hour.. pondering things. Then I roll over to face the wall where I fall asleep.. and I cannot fall asleep before at LEAST 1am.

Often, I like to have a glass of ice water before going to bed...which means I usually have to hit the bathroom at 5 AM, LOL. I snuggle with the hubby and generally tend to mentally run through the list of things to do tomorrow, then once I'm done that I can relax and fall asleep so long as DH isn't snoring! LOL!
I also like it COLD and DARK in my bedroom and prefer some sort of ambient noise like a ceiling fan, or the hum of the air filter does the trick in the winter.

I always wash my face and clean my teeth before bed, even after a few drinks, I cannot sleep with my make up on. Then I get in bed and I need the toilet so I get back up. Then I usually lie with my head on Marks chest but sometimes I can't get to sleep like that so I turn over and we 'spoon' with me facing the door. We usually always have at least one part of our bodies touching, even if it's just our toes.
If Mark isn't there I always sleep on his side of the bed.
I usually wake up about 6 for the toilet and this sounds bad but me and Nismo have 'toilet cuddles'. Every morning without fail she jumps on my lap while Im doing the deed. It's only for 30 seconds or so but it's valuable cuddling time which nobody else gets Then I go back to bed until 7 when it all starts...

This is a cool thread. Chasey usually sleeps at my feet, but sometimes she'll sleep in a basket if I put it near my head. Otherwise, I usually hug the other pillow.

Same here! Must be something to do with our similar climates! lol, I have never met anyone else who has to do this before bed! Otherwise I have to have the TV on (with it timed to turn off in 15 mins). If I don't then I tend to lie awake in bed mentally 'programming'.

Hrmn.... Rune and I take a litre of milk to bed with us while we sit and read... then we both go to sleep back to back.... but it never stays that way!! I always roll onto my tummy and he always rolls onto his back! He talks in his sleep too, but I'm a snuggler.... I have to follow where the heat is!

I usually hug the other pillow.

Yes, Wyan is single so he can only hug chasey and his pillow!
Oh and of course the computer screen when he sees my pics

I listen to music and read a little bit to unwind before I turn off the light. I'm a very picky sleeper. Any little noise irritates me, keeps me from falling asleep, etc. I prefer to sleep on my left side, one arm under the pillow, the other curled up against my chest, blankets up to my shoulder.
With the insomnia, I'm pretty selfish about my sleep. When I can get it, don't dare disturb me!

Me too!!! I ALWAYS sleep on Maxey's side when he's not with me. It has his special `Maxey-smell', which I love.

He'll be away all of next week and I am contemplating letting the puppies sleep with me so I won't be lonely. But I should know better than that...BAD idea BAD idea....

Do my beauty rituals (face stuff), put my daughter to bed, take my sleeping medication, turn on the heating pad to lay on (back issues), reading light & my book nearby, put on the 2 carpal tunnel wrist supports, and re-arrange as one by one, 5 of my 6 cats come in and take their 'spots' on the bed.

If Snickers is missing from his spot, I'll go get him from wherever he's slumbering and carry him up, put him in his spot on the bed. Can't fall asleep without him!

And of course Barney is under the bed; licking himself & making snorting sounds. I've gotten used to the "doggie noises" under the bed and won't go to sleep til he's under there making his nest.

I always shower before bed so I can let my hair dry overnight. I go through all the beauty rituals...face cream, body lotion, etc. DH and Tailer are usually already in bed asleep by the time I get there. I read for a bit, and at some point during that time Forest will come and paw at the side of the bed to be picked up. (He can't jump up on his own because of his CH.) I get up, lift him onto the bed, arrange several pillows in front of the mirrored closet doors so Forest doesn't run into them when he jumps down. I read a bit more, then turn out the light. I position myself to sleep on my stomach with one arm over my head.

Then the real activity starts. Harvey usually joins us shortly after turning out the light. Forest will then pounce on Harvey, causing Harvey to bat and hiss at him. Tailer gets irritated at this behavior and leaves. Forest, still reeling from Harvey's punch, wobbles over to my side of the bed, flops against my legs, and starts cleaning himself. Harvey settles down at the foot of DH's side of the bed. Tailer comes back up, and Forest then wobbles over to him and starts licking him. After Tailer gets annoyed at that, he moves to a spot between me and DH...front feet touching my shoulder, back feet touching DH's. Forest takes up his final resting spot between my legs, using my fanny as a pillow. And finally we can all go to sleep (except DH...who has slept through this whole thing).

The only weird thing about my pre-bed ritual is Mini!
After I brush my teeth, she will chase me down to lick my hand. She loves my toothpaste! I'll sometimes get a tiny "drop" of it & rub it into my fingers because she likes it so much.

I sleep on my right side, that faces the wall, i can't fall asleep if im not on my side, then buddy lays between the wall and me with his paw CONSTANTLY touching my arm, and MieMie sleeps above my head.

I also like having blankets on me, I just recently bought this comforter, man that thing is nice! It makes my bed so cozy...I'm a very hot natured person, I get cold SOOOO easy. (Except when i snowboard, don't understand that one but okay.)

Also, I have to have my shoulders down covered (childhood fears that I know better now, but still get freaked out lmao)

Also, my fiance likes to cuddle, which we do before bed, but I don't like being touched while i sleep...

You know, it took me a minute to realize that "Chasey" is your cat, I was like, why would you want your girl to sleep in basket?? haha sorry. I'm having a blonde day...

I need to have it completely dark, completely silent and COLD!

I also have to get up and pee every night since I have a Sleepytime tea habit

Cat?... What are you talking about?

Just kidding. Yeah, Chasey is not a girlfriend. She's a kitty.

I always check both frontdoor and backdoor, all possible electrical appliances, the kitchen etc. I have to touch both the switchs and the top of the stove twice before I'm satisfied it's not on. I can't sleep if I haven't done my round. Me, neurotic?
