For quite some time, I have desperately wanted another kitty, though I love the two furr-babies I have now very dearly. But, alas, my stupid father won't let me. Can anyone help me come up with a well thought out list of good, beneficial reasons to present him with? It might help, though he is very stuborn. It would be much appreciated!

Ummm...try that he needs his own cat?
My sister-in-law got her way with my brother for a 3rd dog. They happened to be at the pet store and he fell for their future 3rd dog. Take him to a shelter "Just to look - nothing more" and find out if he connects. Often times if you put the right people with the right pets together they'll find each other.

Otherwise if he's pretty firm, then there won't be any begging or pleading to get your way.

Say "But 3's company too!" lol..

I really dont know. Other than the usual, they're cute, fluffy..and so cute!

They have different personalities...it'd be fun to watch all 3 play
You could tell him "we can buy some cat-nip, and watch them all play, instead of watching that movie"

Sit down with your best pouty face & tell him, "Fine! If you won't let me have three, then I'll get four!"

That ought to make him think!

Ooo...How about the "It followed me home" bit? Just leave out the part where you stopped at the shelter placed it in your car and DROVE it home.

My parents won't let me have ANY cats, but I have my own place and my own money, so I just sidestepped them. Guess I can't move home!

Maybe you're in a similar situation?

IMO, if you still live at home with an unwilling parent, however, you'll really want to sit down with him or her and get his/her permission. I've seen that arrangement end badly

If you are living at home in your parents' house, then you should abide by their rules. If they say no then you should respect that just as you would expect someone to respect your rules in your own home.

Well, if it is your fathers house, and he is paying the bills, I think you should be grateful he allows you to have two. When I was in college and your age, and to this day, I am not allowed to take my beauties to my parents house. When you get your own place you can have all the kitties you want. Until then, you can try all of the above, but don't take it too hard if he doesn't budge. good luck

I wasnt trying to say do it if the answer is truley no... I can get away with it because I do pay half the bills so it is a roomate situation not a parent / child, plus I do truly take care of her...

You know this year for the first time in my life I realized that moving back in with my parents is truly not an option. My Dad's very allergic & my Mom HATES cat hair everywhere & with 4 babies there's no way to avoid the cat hair.
But onto the topic at hand. I hate to say it, but unless you pay rent I have to agree that you have to abide by his rules. Now if you pay rent perhaps you can sign some sort of agreement that you will care for them & pay for any damage they may do.

I know your situation! I do live away from home, I have an apartment in the town where my college is. But my parents are great enough to still pay all my bills, as long as I do well in school. (Til I graduate and get a job or married, whichever comes first, then I'm on my own!). My parent's weren't necessarily against me getting my first pet that would be ONLY mine, but made me really think about it first. Like where she would stay if I had to leave town, what would happen on breaks if I came home, etc. After I explained all my answers to them, they agreed to let me get Marlee from the shelter. (Actually my mom was for it all along, my dad was who I had to convince). I really want to get a sissy or brother for Marlee, but I know my dad won't go for it right now. Plus I have my dog Maggie that will live with me once I get a place that allows dogs. So sometimes you just have to deal til you have your own place and MONEY!! But believe me, I know it sucks!!
