Todays question from the Fwan is...

Why has my body broken out into pimples??? This has never happened before.. except for the odd two or three that come up the week before my "friend arrives".

I mean IM at the end of my TEENS! not the beggining!!!!

Has this ever happened to anyone else??

I'm 27 and I still fight with them (not very happy about it I might add!). Have you changed anything major in your diet latley??, stress is also a major factor as well as medication.

I was just reading a website, it says if i dont eat a balanced diet or drink enough water and eat too many sugary foods it will trigger it, infact ive been drinking less water but alot of cola - beer lately!

*beer gut beer gut alarm!*

I still get pimples and I'm 23!! It sucks! Although I don't get them badly so I can't really complain too much!

I would definately say the beer and soda are giving you the pimples! Too many sugars in your diet! Try drinking more water and cleaning your skin more regularly that you do now!

I thought it had more to do with hormones than diet.
You know, it could be the change of climate/different (and much more) food you ate while on holiday, and the general stress of going away.

It can be to do with both.

I get more pimples if I have a sugar binge, or when I'm about to menstruate, and God Forbid if the two coincide!!

I've fought them suckers since the 4th grade and I'm now 23. It can be hormones and it can be diet. Also it can take some time for things to surface. My doctors have put me on antibiotics for my pimples before. Basically they said that at the stage where mine are/have been, it's best to fight from inside out and not just on the outside. Stinky huh?

Aww, Fwan that sucks!

You aren't a freak, though.
I'm 27 and I STILL get pimples, especially around that time of the month.

Drink plenty of water, don't touch the pimples (your hands have oil on them that can exacerbate pimples), use a gentle cleanser (NO SOAP!!), and use spot treatment on the pimples. And if you're using a whole bunch of skin care products, cut back. Using a whole bunch of different things can make skin go nuts, too. Or if you recently changed to a different brand of soap...that can do it.

I am about to sound like a commercial. LOL Some brands of birth control will actually clear up your skin. Ask your doc. The brand I take cleared mine up within a few weeks. I used to have at least one pimple somewhere in my face, and around period time I would get about a dozen. Now I just get one pimple about a week before I start.

If they are all over your body, it sounds more like some sort of rash, hives, or condition - ever had chicken pox? Maybe a food allergy? This sounds worth a visit to the doctor.

35 years old here, and my face keeps breaking out. It's ridiculous. Finally, a trip to the dermatologist on Friday! I've tried everything else!
It might be what you need, as well. Good luck!

There are many factors, the obvious ones are hormones and diet.

Drink about every other glass with water. So like drink one soda, drink one water, etc. You don't have to alternate, but like I know if I'm going out for the evening and will be drinking I'll drink water for most of the day.
Also, I keep forgetting this, but certain kinds of soda will cause me to break out more than others. I'm not sure why, but its kind of weird.

Also, someone else mentioned this to. My body totally broke out in little red pimple-type bumps a few years back. Why? My body suddenly decided to be allergic to the laundry detergent I use!!! Now I just use the Free & clear stuff.

Thanks guys, i dont have a serious problem with pimples, infact ive never had, i just counted my pimples on my face and i have 8 but they are small.

The ones on my legs are from waxing, atleast i know that much.

I have been alternating on the skin products as i like to try out certain things, i guess my face actually broke out after using the clay face mask..

And now i think about it, i used soap to clean my face the other day

Ive never had the chicken pox or measles!

If you switch up the products you use too often, you tend to confuse your skin and irritate it, and, voila, pimples.

I've found that a less-is-more approach with my sensitive skin is definitely the way to go.
Morning: Gentle (soap free) cleanser in the shower, then a nice moisturizer with SPF15 ( richer in the summer, a light gel-formula in the winter). Also I use an underye cream.

Evenings I cleanse with a cleansing cloth (nutrogena) and put on night cream in the winter.

Once a week I use a salicylic-acid based treatment to exfoliate. I don't do well with granular scrubs, they tend to irritate my skin. Though, a scrub with synthetic beads (as opposed to bits of natural pumice or almond shells or that sort of thing) is okay for me.

I'd say leave your skin alone for a week, at least- just gentle cleanser and moisturizer, and see how it goes.

I have found that the best thing that works for me is using a mild soap on my face, like Cetaphil. It works great, but I am not sure if you can buy it where you are Fran

I did not have acne as a teen, but began breaking out around 22-23. Adult acne is very common. I went to a dermatologist and they gave me several creams to use but I found that they burned my face more than they really helped. The doctor did recommend Cetaphil and it works. I do notice that if I eat a lot of junk food I tend to break out more than usual. As someone mentioned, drinking water will help as well.
