One of my cats [kata] has decided to pee on my mother's bed.

I'm not sure if this is a behaviour problem or if its a health problem.

she started doing it when I went on vacation for a couple of weeks. I assumed she missed me and was craving some attention from my mother.

but I've also noticed that she pees frequently compared to my other cats.
she doesn't seem to be in pain, but as all of you know, cats don't show they are in pain unless its an unbearable pain.

I'm taking her to the vet either this week or next week. I'm extremely broke right now so I found a job for a few weeks [replacing someone while they are on vacation] in order to get enough money to get my kitty checked.
In the mean time I was curious what all of you, cat lovers and experts, think the problem could be.

No idea, but one of my cats is doing the same thing. I think it's either Buffy or Molly. Buffy's never peed or pooped outside the litterbox in her life but she's been hanging around the bed a lot lately and she's been "at the crime scene" every time we found a puddle. Molly, on the other hand, is never around but I've found out that she likes to pee on towels if they're in the bathtub (I feed my dog in the bathtub and a towel keeps his toes from getting cold). I think that, whoever's doing it, it's due to what I've been doing with the kitty litter. I recently mixed in some wood chips into all the boxes (big mistake), thinking they'd like it. Nope, someone hates it.

Trust me I know all about the money thing, but you need to get your kitty to the vet asap! I'm sure they will work something out with you. It sounds like a urinary blockage or crystals. Both of these can be life-threatning if left untreated. You say you were gone for a few weeks, has she been doing this since then, if so she need the vet NOW! Please do not wait till later this week or next. Sounds like she needs antibiotics asap. Please keep us updated.

Aussie_dog: Yours sounds like a behavioral thing. Lay off the wood chips and see what happens. I would also take your kitty(s) to the vet to rule out any problems though.

I think its a behaviour problem because I've been giving her lots of attention lately and she stopped peeing on my mothers bed.
I'm taking her to the vet tomorrow in case its something more serious.
