This is a wierd situation. My cat is not like most. She is very dependant and acts more like a dog would than a cat. She always has to be close to me and my boyfriend. And at night she has to sleep right next to me. She has to have a paw or something touching me at night. Lately she has been laying on my chest and, like cats do, making buscuits. However, she bears down with her claws hard and sometimes punctures my skin. Also, she doesn't sleep, if I turn over she gets upset cause I have moved away from her. So she meows or moves to where she is practically laying on my face. I can't sleep when she acts this way. It's not every night. Most times she just lays next to me and wraps her paws around my arm or something. I don't want to be mean to her and tell her no cause she is just trying to be affectioniate, but i need my sleep.

Anyone have any similar situations or know what might be going on in my kittys head. She is two by the way and we have had her since she was 6 months.

Awwwww!!!
Your cat sounds adorable! It isn't all that unusual, I don't think. Almost all the cats I've met have acted more like dogs than that stereotype of cats as being aloof and snotty.
My kitty loves to sleep on / next to people too. I wouldn't be afraid of simply moving her to a spot so she's not keeping you up. She will have to stay on the bed unless you want to meow-fight with it all night. But, cats do realize when you don't want them on something. If you just keep moving her to a compromise spot (on the bed, not on your face) she'll eventually get the point and enjoy sleeping in her own spot. Or, you could get a kitty bed and put it right by your bed and see if she'll sleep there. Don't yell at her though---she has no idea that you don't like it.

I appreciate your reply. She is very adorable and I love her so much. It's just ashame she can't be that lovable at a decent hour, ha ha. I will try to encourage her very own spot on the bed. I hope it works. THanks again

IT worked!!!
Thanks Zissous mom. I brought Rainy's carrier in the bedroom next to my side of the bed for her to sleep in. When she jumped up in my face I just put her down next to the carrier each time. It only took 2 or 3 times. Then she just went in the carrier and curled up and went to sleep. She still gets in it every now and then. But she knows now not to get in our faces when we are sleeping. She will sleep either on the side of me or in her crate.

It was because of the consistency of placing her in a particular area each and every time. Thanks again!

i'm glad you sorted it out, my cat pandy is almost exactly the same, she follows me everywhere and sleeps right next to me every night without fail, she always has a paw wrapped around my arm and sometimes rests her head on the pillow next to mine.

if i get up to use the bathroom she follows me and waits then follows me back to bed, she's aways been like this and is also very affectionate, smooching, paddling and snuggling me, also, when i cry she runs straight to me and gives me kitty kisses.

luckily she doesn't sleep on my face though so at least i can get a good night sleep, funny thing is, she's never as affectionate during the day and is usually doing her own thing

I had a cat that was a puppy too. He followed me everywhere and slept right aside of me in bed. Just try when you cat is lying on ur face or too close to you -- pick her up and move her. Keep teeeling here thsi is her spot and place her someone where u want her to sleep. close enough to tough you or lie next to u but not on u. Just keep doing this and eventually she will learn
