That is a wonderful gift...and you are a wonderful person to be so happy to help that little pony! We have a little old pony at my house, Spec, who I worry about. She is about 30 yrs old, and has arthritis, and is prone to founder, which is a hoof ailment. DH has to manage her feed closely to keep her healthy. She is fine here, but I wonder if something happens to us, what would become of her. How nice that there are sanctuaries that take in injured and unadoptable animals and care for them!

Pepsi is a real cutie!

He IS a cutie isn't he? I'm pretty lucky to have such great colleagues

No doubt he has many adoptive parents but for now he's the only pet in my life so I'll be carfeully watching his progress! Will keep you all posted.

Thank you... I got inspired because I'd given a (quite small) donation to my local animal shelter at Chistmas and cried my eyes out when the shelter sent a letter thanking me for my kind donation. I just figured, gosh animal charities certainly need the money more than I need my annual book token! My colleageus came up with the adopt-a-pony idea all by themselves as they know how much I love horses.

Awww... poor Spec - 30 is a great age. I think founder is what we call chronic laminitis, right? All the little ponies I've ever know have been prone to that - sounds like he has a very caring, loving owner in you though

Yes, founder is chronic laminitis. And fat little ponies are very prone to it! Spec has been good for several years, but is well beyond the point of being able to ride. She is a pleasant little pony though, and part of the family. My older two learned to ride on her, it is sad that the youngest never got to ride her. But he loves her dearly, just the same!
