I have narrowed the name search-who has a Bijou?

I have been hard at work narrowing down my choices for names for Lola. Now I only have 50 instead of 100. Here are the ones I really like:

Iridian
Bijou
Samantha(Aramaic for listener)
Chloe or Cleo
Crystal
Isis
Rose
Blossom
Ophelia
Powder

Who here has a Bijou? What does it mean? Can I use the name, too?

I am really leaning towards Iridian, Samantha, Isis, & Ophelia(Lola is quite the drama queen-I can just see her drowning in a river with flower petals around her).

Yosemite has a Bijou, but you'd have to ask her what it means

I'm so glad you like Iridian....I also like Ophelia a lot.

I love the name Ophelia. I have a song done by a local band named of Ophelia, and it's one of my favorite songs of all time. If you PM me, i'd love to send it to you, and it might sway your opinion some. hehe

I know that Pat (Pat&Alex) and I both have Ophelias. I think those are the only two here, though. I know there are two Bijous here too, but for the life of me I can't remember who has the other one. (Bad moderator!)

I think Bijou just means jewel, so it certainly fits your white girl with her jewel blue eyes!

Maybe you can attach a poll so everyone can vote for their favorite name out of the ones you like. Or just keep mulling them over until one pops for you!

I just asked my husband and he votes for Isis! heh

I love the name Bijou. It reminds me of a great jazz song, by Lambert Hendricks and Ross, who were a great jazz vocal trio in the 1950's. (No, I don't remember them from way back, I have a 1970's reissue of one of their albums with that song on it). It means "A small, exquisitely wrought trinket", so it's not just a jewel, it's a tiny precious object. Mon petit bijou.

I tried searching for the lyrics, and didn't find them, but did find the interesting trivia fact that Bijou Phillips was named for that song.

You're right. Bijou is French for jewel.

If I recall rightly there's another context bijou can be used in....

I like Isis

I guess I've watched WAY too much Batman.
I love the name Isis, but for me it depicts a Black Oriental Shorthair or a Siamese (both breeds used as Catwoman's Isis depending on which versions you watch).

I am still mulling over the names....I really do like Iridian, but I like some of the other names, too.... Bijou is very pretty...it fits being a jewel....yet Samantha is cute since she is deaf.... Still, she could be a dramatic little Ophelia...

It isn't helping that I looked at Iridian's picture & she is not only gorgeous...but she look just like Twitch too!

Now I know why I never get a new cat! It takes me forever to name them!
