My cats Sweetie and Dora are both pregnant. They don't like being apart. They have separate nesting boxes but they only use Sweeties. I've tried separaitng the two cats but they just become restles and start meowing at the doors. With Sweeties last litter, even though the cats are about the same age, Dora kept getting in the and nursing alongside the kittens. Should I just let them have their kittens in the same box?

Personally, I would have them give birth in different places. How big is this box?

When I was a teenager, we had 2 cats, mother and daughter who gave birth on the same night. One on my brother's bed and one on my other brother's bed. From day one after the birth, the mother cats put them in the same spot and both would nurse the kittens. We couldn't tell which mom gave birth to which kitten.

I remember a dog coming into our yard and BOTH mama cats attacking the dog! The dog was actually trying to climb a tree with both cats on his back. He never came back to our yard again!!

If they give birth separately, they will most likely do what my cats did, Put them together and both take care of them. With 2 mamas, those kittens will be spoiled rotten!

I would have them seperated....part of the reason to have them seperated is that if one of the kittens is sick..there is less of a chance of the other litter developing the sickness. I would also recommend that if they are allowed indoors/outdoors, that you restrict them to being indoors only right now.

awwwww, that's so sweet that they love each other so much,
and it is a good idea to separate them but you would have to keep them separate while the kittens were nursing too because diseases could be carried from one mom to another. If you have a friend or family member who'd be willing to let one have the babies at their house that might be easier for you. It's a tough situation though...... good luck
