Would it be ok to use soft paws on an older cat who has never used them before? I'd like to get them for Princess so she stops ruining rugs. She's 15 years old, so I'm concerned about how she will react.

If Princess doesn't seem to mice her paws being handled, I would think it would be OK. This might seem like a waste of money, but maybe you could buy a package & glue only one cap on? Then you could see how she would react. If it doesn't work out, you could always donate them to the local shelter or someone else who could use them.

Hi Bab-ush-niik,

On the SoftPaws web site they have a testimonial from the owner of a fourteen and a half year old cat, there is a photo of the cat wearing them seemly quite happy. I think with cats of any age most will take to nail caps, some wonâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t, all you can do is try.

I hope you have success.

Larry.

Thanks! I'll have to try it out the next time I'm at my parents. Princess doesn't mind having her paws handled, so maybe she'll be ok with them.

Be warned, she probably won't like them at first—I'm sure they feel very strange—but will get used to them over time. We first used them on Ace when he was about seven. (He's 10 or so now.) IIRC, the first batch he pulled off fairly quickly, but after that he mostly ignored them.

Princess should be fine. She migth not like them at first, but she should adjust to them.
