LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!!!

I know a lot of litter box discussions are on this board but many of them are old threads. I just purchased the Booda Dome and wanted to comment on it so if anyone is currently looking for a new litter box this is my input:

Kali is a digger and scatters litter to the point I had a mini-sand dune by her box. The box is in my bedroom so the odor thing is a really big deal for me. I tried covered boxes in the past but didn't like them so went back to the open ones which worked ok for my past two (deceased) cats but not Kali.

The covered Booda is deep and the cover is very high. I purchased the model with the steps into the box which catches any tracking so I don't need a mat.

I'm using the same litter as I did with the open box and there is no odor!!! Hoooray!!!

This may have been posted before, but I just wanted to ask if anyone has any experience or opinions with the Booda Dome litter box. I was thinking of trying it but it's a little on the pricey side and wanted your expert opinions first. Thanks.

Thanks so much for posting this, I was thinking of purchasing it but since it's a little on the pricey side I wanted to hear opinions first. One question I have is - do you think a medium sized dog could fit his head in the opening?
Also I noticed there were 3 or 4 different models, which color/model did you get?

I agree! The Booda Dome is great! I got the one with the steps too. I've only seen two models, the one with the steps and the one without, but there may be more. About the dog head....if you get the one with the steps I think it would be hard for the dog to get its head in there b/c the steps curve around to the litter section, if that makes sense. I got the Purple one for Marlee, and my bf got the silvery gray one for his cat Mick. Its great!

I purchased the Booda box for my kitten and thankfully he likes it. I was worried he might not like using covered boxes. I bought the silver/grey one with the steps and then the entrance to the right. It keeps my medium sized dog out of it (he's about 60lbs). The only thing that I don't like about it is that the lid does not have clasps to hold it down so I have to use duct tape to keep him from pushing it up. The litter does spill out a little bit but nothing compared to having the regular covered box. This could just be my kittens digging habits though. He is really messy in there
All in all, I'm happy with it and so is my little guy.

I have two of them and I love them. One problem I have is that Cody has figured out how to knock the cover off. I wish they would add latches to them.

Movin' on up!
I recently bought two of them and I think they're wonderful - MUCH less tracking and very litle smell. In addition to the filters that come with them, I also put stick-on air fresheners on top. The curved design makes them a bit difficult to scoop but, I manage.

One other plus: they're PURPLE!

I've merged these threads. I've been eyeing the Booda Dome for a while, and wish it would go on the market on this side of the Atlantic. It really looks like the solution for those of us with "diggers".

Thanks for answering the dog ? I had, Sean is about the same weight as your dog so that should work nicely. Looks like I'll be making a trip to the pet store this weekend!

As was mentioned the model with the stairs would be tricky for a dog to get his head in. Now the one with the flap opening, it would depend on the dog...it looked like a Dauchsaund, Bijon, Terriors, Beagles and such *migh* be able to push that open.

I have the covered model in pearl (so if I move the color will co-ordinate anywhere...lol). The one I got was at PetSupermarket for 29.99. Not sure what the going price is for them.

Hope this helps

Our litter is in the bedroom also and we used to have litter on the floor but since the Booda Dome - no more mess. We really love it.

Yeah, I think the one with no steps was around that price here. The one with the steps is more expensive, but was worth it for me!

I went to Petco yesterday afternoon all ready to buy the Booda, but when I asked the store clerk for a tape measure I knew there was no way it would fit in the space where the current litter box is now. I really liked the Booda so my question is - a) do I buy the Booda and take a chance by moving her litter box to a different location in the house?, or b) stay with the current litter box and take a pass on the Booda?

I bought the Booda with the steps too...absolutely love it love it love it. So easy to clean, the cats immediately took to it (and now hardly use the other one) so i'm off to petsmart i think to get a second one, then i'll donate their old (and smaller) litter boxes to the shelter.

You could buy the booda and set it up in the new location, while leaving the other box in it's same place. Encourage her to try out the booda, and slowly overtime, if she's using the booda consistently, you can remove the old litter box. With my cats, they loved the booda and preferentially chose it right away and only used the other boxes if someone was occupying the booda.
