I was browsing around the net looking at kitties and I ran across a site "mycathatesyou dot com. At first I was amused by some of the expresions the cats had in the many photo's. After a minuite or two I could clearly see that these cats are being abused. There must be some way to apply pressure to these morons. Even if I could get the site removed I would'nt feel fufulled untill t these individuals were prosicuted. Any thoughts?

At first the site seems quite benighn, After some looking around you can see that the cats are being provoked into these scary faces by torment. Perhaps I'm seeing the site in different light. The images must be sent in by users. But for sure some of these photo's should have been filtered out by a moderater of sorts.

The cats house, we just pay the mortgage..
I think they shave those types of cats I might be wrong, but it might be good for their fur..? One of the experts on here will say for definate.
I know it looks mean but wait and see what the people on here who know more than I do say before you do anything to try and get the site shut down. If it turns out to be wrong then I absolutely agree with you.

On the west side of... of... somewhere.
That cat looks like he's had a Lion Cut from a groomer... quite possibly to either deal with a large amount of matting, or just a summer cut because his fur is probably very thick. That's not actually abuse. Although I think the lion cut looks kinda strange, it's something that's fairly common. I was contemplating it for Jack when he was sick last summer and stopped grooming himself due to his feeling unwell. I finally decided to sit down with a dog comb and gradually remove his mats. He wasn't happy, but i got them all out. Depending on the situation, it's actully good for the cat. A friend of mine down in Arizona does it for her cat because they don't have AC in her apartment and it gets REALLY hot down there in the summer months...

It doesn't hurt the cat... really... makes 'em mad at you for a while, but it's not bad for them.

I can now see that the clipping has been done with care. Things like the tuft left at the end of the tail. Perhaps if the cats eye didn't look like it was swollen shut I would have not jumped to conclusions. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction with this. I could not stop thinking about this for hours.

I have a book of those pictures made by the same people who did mycathatesyou. I think most of them are just funny candid shots and are pretty harmless.

I agree it's not at all a good feeling if you think a cat is being abused for the sake of a funny cat picture. I guess it was about a year ago that somebody published a whole book of funny cat pictures which I assume was from that site. I hope I don't end up having to put on any flamesuits, but I thought the book was hysterically funny. Although I thought several captions must have been written by someone with, shall I say, a sense of humor I would prefer not to be around.

Cats have such expressive faces, and are so good at letting us know their moods, that I'd assume that the photos there are simply candid shots of a pet in a "catty" mood. We have a a great poster in our teachers' lounge. It shows a very disheveled, and disgruntled, Persian kitten following a bath. The caption reads: "There's no life before coffee!"

Just looks like a lion-cut persian squinting because of the camera flash to me.

Is this cat yawning? or has it been scared up into the floor joist and is hissing? The site has better intentions than my first impressions led me to believe. But I still wonder about how some of the shots were obtained. I'm probably worrying about nothing.

Looks just like a yawn to me. My cat does that exact pose all the time

his body is relaxed. If he had been scared up into the rafters I'm sure he would be tense and scrunched into a dark corner if he could find one.

I think its the magic of kodak moments combined with special kitty personalities. No worries!

I didn't look at the site, but can tell you in many of my pictures of Jasmine she looks like she is afraid of me...because she is, sort of. She was born feral, and still has that impulse to run from hoomans. So even if a kitty has never been abused, they can still have a look of fear to them.

I'm not saying cats aren't abused, but I would guess it happens less often than with dogs. If you mistreat a cat, I'll bet it would be inclined to leave, instead of still loving you like a dog does! And cats aren't afraid to fight back, and bite or claw. I think abusive people like passive, harmless creatures to hurt...a cat just doesn't really fit that profile.

Again, I'm sure in this ugly world, cats are abused. But I doubt it is very frequent.

IMO i think you are over reacting a little bit
I wonder if you are going to complain about the members on tcs for taking scary pictures in the Fur pics thread...
