Hi, I am sorry for not reading through all the topics for info that may help but I do not have time as I am trying to keep a kitten alive.

My cat had a litter 48 hours ago, she had 7 and it was her first litter and one of them was a definite runt, being at least half the size of the others, in fact it is smaller than my finger.

Anyway when I arrived home after the birth 6 of the kittens were suckling but the tiny little ginger one was lying on its own in a pool of spilled water legs in the air stone dead. I spotted it but went straight away to check on the the other kittens. When I returned to the other to take it away it twitched, after being motionless for 10 mins and also freezing cold to touch I presumed it was just a death twitch, but I put it in front of the fire whilst I rubbed it with a towel and miraculously it came back to life! It was so tiny though but seemed quite strong and very loud!

So I put it in with the other kittens, who were at least twice its size and it was not able to even get some milk, even when I removed the other kittens it was unable to suckle.

This morning I went to the vets and got some Cimicat or something, I mixed as instructed and tried feeding little 'spud' as he has been named, he didn't gladly take the milk but I forced some down (he hadn't fed since he had been born.) So now I am sat here forcing this milk mixture down this tiny kitten as small as my thumb, he seems to be such a fighter, he has been clinically dead twice but has fought back and I so want him to have every chance.

What is there that I can do excepy keep him warm and force Cimicat down his throat?

Any advice would be welcome.

Be very, very careful with the forced feedings. It is extremely easy to force fomula into the lungs with aspiration pneumonia as the deadly result in a neo-nate. You may find that Momma kitty will push this little guy to the side and refuse to care for him. She may even push him underneath of her own body to hasten what she believes is the inevitable.

You can do no more than what you are doing right now ... feeding and keeping warm. Be prepared to lose this kitten, but I sincerely hope he will continue to fight.

Well it seems you were right, he just died about ten minutes ago. Poor little lad never had a chance, was taking the substitute milk very well, but still died.

There is no god.

I'm so sorry to hear that.

If its any consolation, at least you were able to keep him warm and make him feel loved and safe for his short time here.
