I just closed on my house today! Or rather a townhome/condo, but still, its mine! Its a beautiful little 2 bedroom, one and a half bed place with glass-fronted cabinets in the kitchen and upgraded light fixtures and such. She is transerring the washer/dryer, refrigerator, stove, microwave, pot rack, and rolling island to me as well! I'm so excited!

Ohhh, don't get me started on redecorating yet!! I don't even have any furniture, since I live in a furnished apartment! So first, I have to save some money to buy at least a bed, couch, and table. :p Thanks everyone!

Its so wonderful! Even better is the knowledge that for the first time in my five years in this town - I won't have to move every year again! I just found out that Behr paint has a coupon out for $20 off the 5-gallons and $5 off the 1-gallon cans of paint, so I'm already picking out the colors I want for my rooms!

That's a good deal! But...ummm...not sure how much painting you've done in the past (and others might disagree with me), but when I bought my house I had to do a lot of painting and I tried - Walmart Color Place, Kilz Colors, and Behr and hated them all! The Behr was very thin and ran easily. If you're very very careful you might be able to pull it off, but I had to repaint the entire place. I am now a die hard fan of Benjermin Moore Paint. That's what my mother told me to get from the beginning (of course I didn't listen). You can't mess it up, it goes on really nice and usually covers in only one coat and Benjermin Moore did something to disipate the that awful paint smell. With that said though it's about $30 a gallon.
If you do decide to go with the Behr, you'll have to let me know how it goes.
Good luck! (oh - and take pics for us - before and after so we can see how it's going!)

Wow, really? I used Behr for my apartment and thought it was great! I only needed one coat, and it looks wonderful. I have pictures, but only the ones that were on the website, so these are all of the former owner's furniture/decorations/etc.

The kitchen/ dining room:

That pantry door you see has a little kitty door in it because she keeps the litter box for her two cats in there!

The door in this picture leads to the half-bath, and the porch is extended, and made of brand new treated wood. She said that in the summer time, she has a lot of flowers that come back, as well as a five-foot banana tree.

On the other side of the stairs is the living room/front entrance:

when i repainted my little house, my sister, a big DIYer, suggested Loews brand paint - it worked beautifully, & was cheaper than the name brands.

Lucky girl! You will love ownng your own home! Have fun painting(I won't ever paint again, someone else will have to do it for me! ugh!!)
Wow! Maybe I just had a bad batch of Behr (maybe it was old or something). My mother and I were cursing up a storm (especially when it hit us that the only way to fix the mess was to repaint).
Maybe sometime in the future I'll get brave and try it again.

BTW - the photos are beautiful! Congratulations! You will have soooooooo much fun getting it all ready and the best part is now that it's yours you can do anything you want to it. .
As for the flowers coming up in the spring - that's also one of the best surprises of a new home when you buy in the winter (I did that too). Come spring time you'll be outside saying "Wow! What's that? Ooohh What's that?" Problem with me is I can kill anything green and know nothing about flowers at all so I had to have my mom come over and help me identify what were flowers and what were weeds.

Oh, I'm so terrible at keeping things alive - I can't even keep my pots of cat grass for more than a week or two! These are annuals though, so hopefully I can't do too much damage.

But yeah, Behr paint was great for me, and I recommended it to my parents who liked it as well. So maybe it was a bad bunch? With the five bucks off though, I think I'm going to pay 10 bucks or less for a gallon, which suits me just fine.

We could be twins on that, since I'm exactly the same. I'm the worst gardener and I have to run to my mom with all my questions.

Pam, enjoy the new home! I'm sure you'll have a fabulous time redecorating to your own tastes!

Congrats!

Enjoy the redecorating!!!
