Which is the best? I need a new one

I can't recommend the Dyson pet enough.
This is simply the greatest pet hair picker-upper I have ever seen.

Dyson pet.

That's the only thing I can say about that. It's the best one you're gonna find for pet hair.

They're so very expensive though, but I suppose it's great if they're worth all the money. Are they good on hard floors too, like with mud and stuff?

I personally think they are worth every penny. I dont know about the hardwood floor thing though. It's my moms vacuume...I used it once to see what all the fuss was about.

My carpet never looked better. I Was truly amazed. I had just vacuumed with my own vacuume, and then used hers, and the whole tub thing was FULL of cat hair. I couldnt belive it. I totally wish I could afford one.

I'd say check out Consumer Reports. Their current Best Buys are the Kenmore (Sears) Progressive with Direct Drive 35922, the Kenmore (Sears) Progressive with Direct Drive 36932, and the Eureka Boss Smart Vac Ultra 4870.

That being said, I use a Kirby, and you will get that Kirby when you pry it from my cold, dead hands.

I have the yellow Dyson. I think it's one of the cheaper ones and boy does it suck! (strong suction... good vac). Anyway, we've had it for about 1 and 1/2 years and it hasn't lost any suction power yet. I'd also say ... worth every penny.

I do have wood floors and it works good there too - although I don't really use it on my wood floors - I've only done that a couple of times.

The 'only' thing I'm not thrilled about is how the attachment works... I find it a bit awkward.

That's an endorsement if I ever heard one!

I just bought an Oreck and I love it! I have a Kirby, but this is much better. The suction is awesome and it's only 8 lbs!!! It works awesome for scooping up my persians hair.

Lynsey!! You couldn't fix the other one then?!!

My parents have a Dyson Animal (especially for our visits as they don't have pets! ) and it does work fantastically!! You'll be surprised by the first once over!!

I've also heard that the Bissell Pet one is good too - my Auntie uses one and it picks up the hair - off her cream carpets - from her orange medium hair dog!

Just type the hoover of your choice and review into google and you should find something!!

I recently bought a Roomba robot vacuum...and it picks up very well. I doubt it does as good a job as a Dyson...but it does vacuum the entire room with the push of one button. This morning, I left it vacuuming my bedroom.

I work full time, have 3 kids, 3 cats, a dog and a husband...so for me the Roomba is the best thing possible! LOL!

And it always has the little container full of pet hair when I empty it, so it is picking up the fur. It has a little sensor, so when it goes over an area that is dirty, it circles in that area. It ALWAYS does that where the dog lays! LOL!

I just bought an Oreck a little over a month ago and absolutely love it.
The suction is great and it does an awesome job on both the carpet and hardwood floors. Plus, it's so lightweight that it's actually fun to use.

What I love too about the Oreck is it's warranty! Mine has an 8 year warranty and I can bring it in EVERY YEAR for 8 years for a complete and thorough cleaning at no charge! I don't know of any other vacuum that offers that. Definately worth the money! Btw, I got the lime green one.

Has anyone had experience with the "Pet Vac" which they could share with the rest of us? It seems to offer an interesting concept of "getting at the source" if it works as billed -- particularly if the vacuum is far enough away from the cat so that it does not frighten the furbabes. Our two Turkish Vans will not permit a regular vacuum to come anywhere near them, and it is unbelievable how much fur we collect with our vacuum daily.

Dyson "The Animal" is the best. Hubby bought a subscription to Consumer Reports to find out which one they said, and they listed others above Dyson. I am very happy we did not go with what Consumer Reports had for top vacuums. I love my Animal. I will never have anything else. I also purchased the mattress attachment, it is sick to know what you are sleeping with. LOL My old vacuums would pick up some hair, dust, and fibers from the rug, the animal, all I see is a ton of hair and dust, no fuzz from carpet fibers, it is amazing.
