More vibes for Peter

Just wanted to request some more vibes for my sweet boy Peter. We're going back to vet tomorrow for a checkup on his heart murmur. A couple of days ago I spoke to the woman who adopted two of his brothers (Smudge and Mr. Fluffy). We already knew Smudge also had murmur. Turns out Mr. Fluffy does too. Not sure what's up with the boys in this family, but it appears to be genetic. The girls (my Claire and her Bianca) are fine.

My vet has recommended an ultrasound to determine the cause of the murmur, which we'll be going ahead with in the very near future.

I'm trying not to worry too much about Peter, but can't help it. So, any vibes/prayers you can spare for Peter and his brothers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks for the prayers and vibes for Peter. I appreciate them so much!

I'd been going back and forth on getting the ultrasound, since Peter seems perfectly fine (and it's not cheap), but after learning about both his brothers, talking to my vet and doing some research, we have to do it for his sake. I'm concerned that his murmur is a sign of HCM (hypertrophic cardiomyopath) which causes the walls of the heart to enlarge. I've learned it's very common for this disease to be transmitted genetically and it's more common in male cats. The prognosis for cats with HCM usually isn't good, but if caught early and treated, they have a much better chance.

So, please kept the vibes and prayers coming. I'm hoping to make an appointment for the ultrasound next week. I'm trying not to worry too much, because it could be something minor, but can't help it. Pete's my sweet buddy and I love him.

It's just natural to worry at a time like this. I hope the test reveal something very minor or treatable

Thanks everyone from Peter and me for all the vibes and prayers.

Peter's heart was beating so fast last night that my vet couldn't detect the murmur, but since she's heard it on two other ocassions we're stilling going ahead with the cardiac ultrasound. The soonest we could schedule it was March 13, so I'll update when I know more.

Thanks again. You guys are the best.

Wanted to let everyone know that Peter is finally going in for his ultrasound tomorrow morning. It was originally scheduled for earlier this month, but based on recommendations from a friend who has three cats with heart disease, a discussion with my vet and support from here, I rescheduled the appointment with an internist who specializes in feline cardiology.

So, I wanted to request more vibes and prayers for my sweet boy. We need to have the ultrasound done to pin down what's causing his murmur, but I hate putting him through this. He's going to be so scared. The good thing is that I'll be able to stay with him during the procedure and we'll have the results right away.

I'll post an update as soon as we get home tomorrow. Thanks, everyone!

Prayers for Peter. Much sends purr vibes to him. She knows all about ultrasounds because we had a scare about her kidney. She says Peter should find a nice sunspot afterwards because they will shave his tummy and it can be a little drafty.

My beloved Bartholomew, who is at the bridge, has a cardiac ultra sound done when he was 15.
The specialist really knew how to handle him....
He took Mew into a dim room, put Mew on his lap, calmed him down, then did the ultrasound.
Normally Mew was a terror when it came to doctors, but he was calm as could be on that doctors lap.
I hope that sweet Peter has a similar experience and you finally get answers.

vibes & prayers for Peter that things go well. Mouse had an ultrasound before the exploratory surgery. she had no problem at all - just laid there & meowed at me. the vet let me stand with her while he did the ultrasound.
