Just wanted to request some more vibes for my sweet boy Peter. We're going back to vet tomorrow for a checkup on his heart murmur. A couple of days ago I spoke to the woman who adopted two of his brothers (Smudge and Mr. Fluffy). We already knew Smudge also had murmur. Turns out Mr. Fluffy does too. Not sure what's up with the boys in this family, but it appears to be genetic. The girls (my Claire and her Bianca) are fine.

My vet has recommended an ultrasound to determine the cause of the murmur, which we'll be going ahead with in the very near future.

I'm trying not to worry too much about Peter, but can't help it. So, any vibes/prayers you can spare for Peter and his brothers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Prayers and Good Vibes to Peter. I know how hard this is, Jazz has a heart murmur and I panic and pray at every vet visit. Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks for the prayers and vibes for Peter. I appreciate them so much!

I'd been going back and forth on getting the ultrasound, since Peter seems perfectly fine (and it's not cheap), but after learning about both his brothers, talking to my vet and doing some research, we have to do it for his sake. I'm concerned that his murmur is a sign of HCM (hypertrophic cardiomyopath) which causes the walls of the heart to enlarge. I've learned it's very common for this disease to be transmitted genetically and it's more common in male cats. The prognosis for cats with HCM usually isn't good, but if caught early and treated, they have a much better chance.

So, please kept the vibes and prayers coming. I'm hoping to make an appointment for the ultrasound next week. I'm trying not to worry too much, because it could be something minor, but can't help it. Pete's my sweet buddy and I love him.

Thanks!

It's just natural to worry at a time like this. I hope the test reveal something very minor or treatable

Thanks everyone from Peter and me for all the vibes and prayers.

Peter's heart was beating so fast last night that my vet couldn't detect the murmur, but since she's heard it on two other ocassions we're stilling going ahead with the cardiac ultrasound. The soonest we could schedule it was March 13, so I'll update when I know more.

Thanks again. You guys are the best.
