Ok, last night when I came home - John had a TON of rose petals on the floor with candles and all that good stuff - well, I want to keep the rose petals and do something with them - any good ideas? I have them in a bowl right now drying out - I want to keep them cuz they are so pretty - there are red, yellow, white and pink ones

Can I make potpurri out of them or something? I was thinking about doing a cute frame with our pics in it with a few petals or something in it -

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

You could definatly do a picture frame...I saw that on Trading spaces once
...I'm sure you could do potpurri too! dry the petals out and maybe get some wood chips and a few other little things to put in there, then you can go buy that potpurri oil, put all that in a vase and sprinkle the oil over it, not alot but enough to give off a scent!! Hope this information works out for you!

Or you can dry the petals and get a glass container perhaps a bigger vase that would hold a candle and put the rose petals around the candle. (but don't light it!!)

That sounds like a lovely Valentine's surprise for you! What a romantic John is.
I like the potpourri idea, wouldn't be too hard to do.

I was actually thinking about the Trading Spouses thing too when you mentioned you wanted to do that.

It is a really cute idea...you know..get a cute picture of you guys, and do that. I think it would be great.

I had a bunch of rose petals once, and just put them in a nice bowl with a tea-light in the middle, of course you shouldnt light it, but it looks nice, and has special meaning.

I really really love that idea!

My great grandmother passed away 3 years ago and I inherited a bunch of her crystal bowls, plates, serving dishes and whatnot - there is a gorgeous one that I think I might put a few of them in with a white candle in the middle - that way it has twice the meaning

You guys are awesome!

I'm going to probly do everything that everyone has mentioned - there are SO many petals, I don't want to throw them away at all!

I just started scrapbooking again so I think I might use that idea too - they are already starting to dry pretty good! I'm going to press a few of them tonight!

I've kept all the petals from all the roses DH has given me over the years. I just dried them out, and put them in a clear glass canister with a lid. (That way they don't get dusty.) It actually looks really nice.

You could also get a matt to surround a picture of the 2 of you and use a tiny bit of glue to attach the petals to the matt. Then cover with glass.
You could also (if you have that many of them) make some sachets to hang in your closets, bathroom ,,,or stick in drawers. This can be done simply by placing a handful of the dried petals into a piece of nylon toling (netting might be too big of holes and they could crumble through) then tie with a piece of ribbon. You can both buy it at walmarts in the fabric dept...and it`s cheap. If you are going to hang or set a sachet where it will be seen, then you could add a few silk or dried flowers, sea shells, feathers or pearls/beads with your hot glue gun to make them more decorative.
Let us know what all you do with them.

Oh my! That is the sweetest idea ever!

Right now I have them in a crystal bowl with a candle in a little holder in the middle so I can still light the candle - thats what I'm going to do with them until they dry out a bit - it looks so pretty, I'll probly switch it around and make some potpurri out of it soon too.

You guys have SUCH great ideas!!
