i've been gradually introducing the new kitties to Natural Balance venison and green pea hard kibble. (they drink plenty of water, so for right now, i'm not worried about introducing the soft food.)

how long should the transition last? we're almost at a week, and i was planning on taking another 3-5 days. they love the food, btw. bowl is bone dry, not a kibble in sight.

is it possible that during the transition, their stools will soften? if so, how long before they become used to the food and their stools firm up again?

thanks!

So far you are doing fine and yes it could happen that their stool softens a little and that will go back to normal in about a week or so after you completed the transition.

PS: That is what I am feeding my Loki and he is doing great - never had a provblem with soft stool during the transition.

thanks helen.

i was a little concerned that the new food would be too rich. kitties are 9mos old, but the shelter had them on adult food, so that's what i kept them on.

there seems to be no lack of energy.

btw, we're practically neighbors...i'm in north jersey.
