I recently purchased a new canary, Perl, 2 weeks this Sunday.

I am very worried about her, she is puffed up and sitting in the bottom of her cage. Perl has been in 'quarantine' since I brought her home. I have her in a quiet room w/a warm light above her cage. I started her on antibiotics today and am verrry worried about her.

The stress of change on a canary can be overwhelming, especially during breeding season(which is now). I'm an idiot to buy a bird during breeding season but, I couldn't resist.

Although I haven't had her very long, I love her as much as my other pets. Please send some good thoughts Perl's way.

Oh, I'm so sorry. I'll send mine right over. Would another bird help, maybe she is lonely.

I have another canary, Lenny, waiting for her when she is better. Right now the stress of meeting a new bird would probably kill her.

Thankyou!

Oh, that's awful!! I didn't know that canaries had a hard time adjusting to new surroundings. I'm sorry to hear about your canary. My thoughts are with you!

Perl just died
. I went into her room to check on her and she was upside down on the floor of her cage. I put her on a hotpad and watched her die.

My vet said they could do a necropsy(bird autopsy), so hopefully I will find out some answers.

Perl was a very sweet bird. I loved her
, and will miss her.

Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry to hear that. That must be hard for you to loose a loved pet. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Do you think you will get another canary after breeding season?

safron I'm so sorry to hear about Pearl. Birds are such delicate creatures and even though you just got her it's never easy to loose a pal.

Oh, poor birdie, poor you. How sad. I don't know what to say. That had to be horrible for you both.

Thank you. I dropped Perl's body off at the vet for the necropsy, the results take about a week. At least I will have some answers.

I'm going to wait a while before I get another canary. Maybe a glocster or red factor.

Thankyou, you guys are awesome! Most people don't understand why I am so upset over a canary. I love my canaries as much as my dog and cats.
