This is my first attempt at designing my very own signature.

Not bad, but I can't read it.

Yeah, I can see that now. I am not sure what happened. When I saved the tif file to photobucket it was 1.5" x 5". IT SHRUNK!

Bear with me while I work on it. Thanks!

it looks nice, otherwise. i hope you can get it bigger

Here is my latest attempt. Now it seems too big. But at least it is readable.

Back to the drawing board.

I can read it just fine... but I think you are right, it is a tad too big Looks great other than that.
It looks great, but it is way too big. I resized it for you but, it's still a little hard to read. You may just want to start over with a new image 150 pixels high & then add your photo & text. That way you'll be able to see if your text is readable. Once you're done, if your file size is too large then you can resize it or I can resize it for you if you need help with that.

Its very pretty! I haven't braved making my own just yet! great job!!

I read on here somewhere that sigs should be no bigger than 600 x 300, but mine is 675 x 165. Is that o.k.? It is so hard to get it readable when you squash it down more. But if I have to, I just have to. Just let me know if I need to make more adjustments.

I really love this pic of Snow. He is just so cute and inquisitive in this one.

I thought that I would rotate pictures of the clan once I get this thing all figured out. How often do most folks update their signature?
No, it's not okay. The height limit is 150 pixels for siggies.
The entire signature should not be larger than 150 pixels in height, including text & graphics. The complete regulations are in this thread... Posting a Signature at TCS.

That's why I suggested that you may want to start over & make it 150 pixel high to begin with. That way you can create it with a good readable sized text & not have to squash down your siggy & text.

i only update mine when i need to. i used to [when i made my own] update if i got a better pic of one of the cats. but now i'm not planning to update it unless i get another cat or if [God forbid] i lose one of them.

Back to the drawing board again. Thanks for all the help!

just without the borders and it fits a lot better
post #16 of 28
I change mine quite regularly, I have recently started making ones for each cat rather than all 4 of them together so they are a bit more detailed

Here it is, again. This time it is 600 x 150. Is this o.k.? Is it readable?

Thank you all for the support and kind words.

I am definitely not a designer and isn't like some of the beautiful professionally ones on here, but it will work until I figure out how to do some of the fancier stuff.

I'd love to know how they get just the kitty onto a different background. Oh well, that is a project for another day.

I can tell you! What program do you use? I myself have a free program, so it isn't that great but it's got basic features. The tool you use to cut the kitty out so it's seperate from the picture is the lasso tool. It looks like a lasso heh. Basically all image editing programs have it. Then when it's seperate be sure not to click anywhere else, except right-click what you just cut out to copy/paste it where-ever.

I hope that helps!! Good job so far! Snow is a beautiful cat

Check out this pic of him.

I love the pic of Sweetie in your sig. What a look!

Will check out MS Publisher for that feature as soon as I get the opportunity. That is what I am using. Thanks for the tip!

I just started doing my own a couple of weeks ago, too. For me, saving in jpeg form helps, because they are smaller files and easier to adhere to the requirements.
For now, I'm doing each cat separately. Not sure if I'm brave enough to cram them all into one and make a huge mishmash of it yet!

Awwwww! Look at his eyes!!
Hi Snow!!

....I'm not sure if MS Publisher will have that feature. But if you ever want me to make you a siggy, if you are looking for a different style, I will - I've been a bit bored lately
Or if you want an actual image editing program that's free I could tell you about one.

Anyways great job on your signature, especially since you made it with MS Publisher, which I'm pretty sure isn't even an image editing program right? Whoa awesome job at bending the rules, I never thought you could make a sig with that program!!

Thanks for the info. I love Publisher and use it a lot, but I haven't found the feature that I was looking for on it. Rats! It is very versatile. I use it for all kinds of things: brochures, programs, newsletters, flyers, labels, posters, etc. Leave it to me to warp something!

Yeah, I'm sure Publisher wouldn't have that feature since... well it's not meant for that kind of thing! But of course you used it for that anyways!
