Hi guys,

I know that there's been a lot of paypal and ebay phishing going on in your Inboxes (or junk mail). However, I just received in my Inbox that looked like it was from a Buyer.
There were two things wrong with it -
1) There wasn't any Item # listed in the email. The email was from a "buyer" that states s/he did not get the item in 5 days and wonders what happened.

2) If you hover (don't click) over the member ID, feedback and the "Respond Now" button it does not list ebay.com in the lower left portion of your web browser. Instead its http://dana.ucc.nau.edu.....

I verified that it was phishing since I logged into my ebay account and didn't see any messages.

I'm only posting this as it was a very good set up, plus I've been selling a lot lately and some buyers try to con me for a refund by saying they never got the item (despite that I buy delivery confirmations).

Just a fair warning.

Thanks for the heads-up!

DH always reports suspected phishing messages from Ebay to Ebay, and they've also pointed out that any message that comes to you from a seller/buyer via Ebay will also appear in your Ebay messages - if it doesn't, it's a fake.

I got an email from Paypal recently that a new address had been added to my merchant account and that I should log on (a handy link provided to the "log in page") and confirm or cancel the new address. Scary! I reported it to Paypal and they did confirm it was fraudulant, but sheesh! These crooks are getting smarter!

Ebay warns you from time to time that if you get an e-mail that doesn't have your name (user ID) in it, then it is a scam. If you click the link in the e-mail, you will be directed to a site outside of e-bay to login. When you login, they capture your userid and password then have free access to whatever you do in e-bay.

The news here reported recently that this type of phishing is supposed to be on the way out. Now key loggers hidden in downloads are on the rise.
