"Digs" His Water

I didn't see this unusual drinking behavior mentioned. Buzz scratches the floor next to his bowl, as though he is digging a hole, before he takes a drink. The floor is vinyl, so he can really get carried away!

Sounds to me he is just marking his area. Cats sometimes will show more of the natural instinct from their ancestors. He just wants to make sure that any intruders know that the water belongs to him. He will probably do it for life or until he knows hisa water is safe.

I hadn't thought of that Sandie. He is one of three cats in the household. The other two are almost 10 yr.old neutered males. Buzz is nearly 1yr. old, and not yet neutered. But he is very well behaved and gentle. Maybe he's trying to be macho? LOL!

Our Ray does this after he takes his drink, as though he's covering up the water to save for later!
