My cat made me post... :)

Hi all,

This is my first post and my cat made me look for board to post on.

I have two cats: Gunner and Taylor. Gunner is 6 or 7 and Taylor is almost 2. Gunner has always been the lovebug/lap cat. Taylor has always been more independent and would come get attention when he felt like it. He never liked to lay on my lap or chest. He always like to snuggle up with my feet when they are kicked up on the ottoman. Lately, he has been crawling up on me and laying on my chest and purring like crazy. It just made me wonder why his attitude has changed.

Any ideas?

I would guess that he's just mellowing with age. He's no longer a kitten, so his energy levels are leveling out. And maybe he saw how much Gunner enjoyed being snuggled and figured he'd see what the fuss was about. Silly boy - he liked it!

I'd have to agree, 2 years is about when my Spaz stopped her kittenish independance and became a lapcat.

Sashka will cuddle heaps now that she's nearly two, but as a kitten, I only saw her in the split second after she broke something...so, actually I saw her quite a lot!!

On a side note, Arlyn, I cannot believe that you have a cat named Spaz. That just cracks me up every single time I see it!!

Well, if you saw her socializing with her invisible friends, you'd call her Spaz too

It was such a shock to see him come lay down on me like that. LOL. I was worried that maybe he was sick and trying to tell me, but he looks healthy to me and was purring like crazy.

Ahhhh... cats. Gotta love em. It looks like I found a site to talk about my kitties.
