Is "kitten-food" a must for a kitten??
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am asking this because I am having some problems with my cats. No no, they are not sick or so; but everytime I feed them dry food, Snoopy runs to the bowls of the others and tries to eat the adult food. She eats the kitten food when she is hungry enough, but I have the impression that she dislikes it!
So I need advize: it is really necessary to give Snoopy kitten food, while the others get adult food? Snoopy goes crazy for tuna tasted kibble, but for kittens it is always chicken taste... . What should I do? Force her to take the kitten food? Or let her have the same food as the others? I always buy good quality food from Hills

Kitten food has more calories and vitamins, the things that growing kittens need!

Ring your vet for a chat if your not sure what food is best.

My cats all eat together, so I have been feeding a mix of kitten food and adult food for several months. Started out with the kittens eating kitten chow in one room, followed by the adult kitties, who were supposed to be eating in another room. But as the kittens were ferals I was taming, I could not shoo away the full grown cats! LOL!

Then the kittens made their way to the kitchen, and started eating cat food. Now they are getting a mix. Maybe that would work for you for the next few months until the kitten grows up!

ditto Gayef

Kitten food contains extras for growing babies but any food that is labeld all life stage or growth and maintence will work

how old is your kitten? if we're talking like 8-10 weeks then yes, feed him kitten food because they need to gain weight quickly and that's what kitten food will help them do.

Once my two boys came out of quarantine and began to eat downstairs I also had a job stopping them eating the adult food. Conversely, Dushka, my oldest cat, wanted their kitten food! I ended up mixing it too, and trying to give them some extras like egg yolk when the others were not around. It seems to have worked.

Most foods in the US are suitable for all life stages. I don't really know anything about cat food manufacturing standards in Europe but I suspect they're similar. You can always ask your vet about it, or e-mail the company that manufactures the food.
