I am certainly frazzled! I can't wait until everyone is well and things calm down!
I think i'll need to sleep for a week!
Nothing ever comes in ones, do they?!!

The visit wasn't too bad, we have to visit again on Wednesday to judge if Molly needs a further course of antibiotics. I could have taken them today, but I'd rather see if she improves by Wednesday as opposed to giving her the antibiotics without the need!

I am also having to take Tibby on Wednesday too, as he's been a little off colour!
It will be 'fun' trying to carry two cats into the surgery!

Thank you all so much for your support! I really appreciate knowing that you're all with me with all this!
Oh, I'm sad to hear Tibby has to go too! I don't blame you about the antibiotics.
Can you get someone to help you take them in? I brought Oliver and Tripod to the vets together in the same carrier once. Never again unless its an emergency. Tripod used to enjoy car rides until Oliver screamed the whole way. Now he does too.

Fingers crossed
that Molly doesn't need any more antibiotics

Poor Tibby! What's up with the little darling? Any ideas? We're all here for you!

I'm pleased that you, too, think I did the right thing about the antibiotics! Although it would have been much easier, I feel it better to play it by ear!

Since graduating, most of my friends have moved from the area or are working full time, so I'm going to have to manage as best I can! I'm planning to try to adapt my shopping trolley to hold the boxes to make it easier!

I have had Tibby and Molly in the same box to travel - once, but never again! Tibby isn't the best of travellers and you can imagine the mess!

I hope that poor Molly won't need any more antibiotics, but I have a small feeling that she may need a couple more days worth!
That she doesn't!

Tibby's generally a bit under the weather and I feel he may have a bit of Peridontal Disease to one side of his mouth, so it looks like he will require antibiotics too - and possibly a descale and polish.

Thank you all, so much, for your support!

We have just come back from the vets! Luckily I managed to get a space right outside the front door, and the vet nurse helped me to and from my car with the cat boxes!
Our vet heped me to and from the consultation room too!

We were also lucky that it was a cat day (we are usually surrounded by dogs!) so Tibby and Molly felt more at ease!

I'm so pleased that I decided not to take the antibiotics for Molly, she was given the all clear today - so I am so happy in that respect!

Sadly, though, Tibby is now on antibiotics and will have to go in next week for a descale, pollish and extraction
I have been so careful about their teeth that I am so upset by this!

Hopefully this will be the last thing - after Willow's final part of his vaccinations - and things will be able to settle down nicely!

Thank you again for all your support!

Yaaaay for Molly!

Poor Tibby and poor you
You take such good care of their teeth as well. Look at this way though, no matter how much care we take over our own teeth, we still have to go to the dentist so don't take it to heart

Fingers crossed
that this will be the last thing you have to deal with. You've been through so much already

Thank God about Molly !!! Yay!!!

Tibby needs an extraction!
I would be upset too. I KNOW you take the best care possible of your babies. Is he a fast eater? The reason I'm asking is Oliver takes his time chewing, but I think Tripod swallows food almost whole. They both get tartar control kitty treats every day. When Oliver was a kitten my vet said that may prevent him from ever having to have his teeth cleaned. Hes 6 1/2 and so far its working. His teeth are in excellent condition. Tripod, on the other hand, who is 3 years younger has some tartar and my vet said his teeth will likely need to be cleaned next year!

I counted the smilies this time so the smiley police wouldn't yell at me.

Oh gosh, I know that is SO upsetting to see them being aggressive with each other, and hope it all stays resolved for a long time! As far as your kitty needing extractions? My kitty Missy, is 9 years old. She had "calcium resorption". I took VERY good care of her teeth, and they STILL went bad! The Vet said, it is hereditary. She does not look like she has Siamese in her, but the Vet said, she may, anyway. And that Siamese, in particular, have that problem a LOT. But, that some other breeds also have a higher number of these cases too. So, my poor little MissyKitty was having an extraction here...and an extraction there... It seemed like every other month, I had her at the Vets for that. It really, really began taking a toll on her health and wellbeing. So, we talked to the Vet. He said she would lose all her teeth, in the next couple years. So, we decided she needed to have all of the rest of them pulled, as all the various surgeries, and one extraction at a time, was just getting more and more difficult for the poor little girl! They started her on antibiotics the week before, and then took her in and extracted the remaining teeth. They medicated her well, for pain and kept her for a week. I made SURE they were keeping on medicating her, as I did not want her to be suffering. I took her home, and had to water her food down, like a gruel. She was medicated for pain, for a full two months time. She recovered well, and now only eats canned catfood (UNLESS, she happens to notice my other kitty (Katy) did not finish her dried catfood. Then, she proceeds to gum her dry catfood and swallow that, and acts like she is quite the rebel, for doing so!!!!
I felt so, so badly, that she was having so much tooth pain, and stringing the extractions out, over a couple years, was just prolonging her misery. I hope that your kitty does not have the same diagnosis, but if so, maybe seeing how we handled it, may help you out a bit.

Sometimes my two girls can be happily grooming each other then a second later they are hissing at one another!! For me this time of year the cats have "cabin fever" from being cooped up inside. The one that causes the problems loves spending time outside but with the snow doesn't like getting her paws cold/wet.
And the inappropriate peeing from her-thankfully is on throw rugs that seem to be washed quite often!!
A couple of yrs ago I took three cats to the vet at one time!! It wasn't too bad but don't want to repeat it again.
I hope the cats calm down a bit and return to their normal routine!!

I'm so pleased that Molly has completely recovered!
Well done counting your smilies! I always end up being told off and having to edit them down!

Yes, Tibby is a fast eater - he definitely swallows as opposed to having a jolly good chew of it! I thought this might be a problem when I realised how quickly he ate, but sadly, Molly has also had a tooth removed and she chews to the bitter end

They have both also been getting Denta Bits, daily, for almost their whole lives!

I just can't work out what I have done wrong, especially as they are both two years old. I have been so careful as I lost my first cat through severe gingivitis (and related illness), so was extra careful to pay attention and be precautious! The vet mentioned that it may be genetic and there would be nothing I could do to prevent it.

Hopefully Tripod won't need to have his teeth cleaned too much! Don't you wish you could just tell them to chew every bite at least ten times?!

I really do hope that all of this will be a one off and everyone will be fully recovered very soon!

Missy&SpikesMom Thank you for sharing your story!
I'm so pleased to hear that MissyKitty is coping so well! I do hope that Tibby doesn't have the same problem, but I really do appreciate knowing that things can be normal!

GailC I did wonder, too, if their scuffs are from them not being able to go out on their leads and harnesses so regularly - I will have to see when the weather improves again!
It is certainly not easy to take multiple cats to the vets! I also have to use a walking stick, so am limited to one free hand which makes it a rather rushed event! Luckily our further appointments will be individual!

Thank you all for your advice and support!

Hi Sarah,

How did Tibby's extraction go? Is everyone in the house settled now?

Hi!
Thank you for asking!

Tibby ended up having to have two lower molars removed
He is doing well though, eating healthily and playing as usual!

We had to post op check-up today and he still has some swelling around the gum and bone where one tooth was removed. We have another appointment for Thursday (after we finishe with his antibiotics) and we'll see if he needs and extra course to clear things up.

Things have been a little more settled around here! Molly and Willow are still a bit fractious towards eachother, but there are much less fights and the negative attention towards eachother doesn't last even half as long as before!

It seems to be looking up for us all, but I'm not letting out that deep breath yet, there is still a fair way to go!

Thank you all for your continued prayers, vibes and support! It means the world to us all!

Oh, poor little Tibby!
Toothaches are no fun - at least he should be feeling better soon.

I'm so glad the roughhousing has lightened up though.

More prayers have been sent.

Thank you

We have just got back from our vet and there is still swelling around one side
As he has been eating and drinking well, I just have to monitor the swelling and his eating habbits. They said that it could develop into Gingivitis (which I'm terrified of, since losing my first kitty to it
)

We'll just have to see how things go and hope and pray that Tibby doesn't develop Gingivitis

Thank you again for your help and support
