While I don't assume this, it is possible she had testing done early in the pregnancy (this can be diagnosed by doing CVS - Chorionic Villi sampling) so that she could either simply know in advance, or choose whether to continue the pregnancy.
I give her a lot of credit for pulling this off, I remember caring for a pregnant patient who also had this. Not easy.
