Diabetes or Glycose Disease in a Kitten

I currently have a foster kitten who is 4 months old, has cataracts, and may have either of the above. He's already had some tests done, and will need more. His glucose levels are off the charts, his liver levels are also high.

Has anyone had a kitten with these type of symptoms? I'm working on getting some funding for him - because these bills are HUGE!

Sorry to hear that your little kitty isn't well

I've not had a diabetic kitten but Mittens was diabetic. By the time she was diagnosed there were already ketones in her urine. Luckily, our vet was able to stabilise her and she led a pretty normal and healthy life.

You might want to visit this forum http://www.felinediabetes.com/phorum5/index.php?0 There are a lot of knowledgeable people there and some of them have forgotten more about feline diabetes than vets know about

IF it is diabetes, rest assured it is treatable. However, I always thought that diabetes was a disease that normally affected older cats - I've never heard of a diabetic kitten before but that's not to say that isn't possible
