I'm a little embarrassed to be writing this 2 months after the fact, but I have been so busy that I haven't gotten around to it yet. Every year, I always send my pet sitting clients Christmas cards with free visit coupons inside. My clients are all wonderful and we all have strong relationships. I have had some for nearly 8 years now. The more years they're my clients, the more free visits they get. Last year, I added it up to be $1200 worth of business I gave away on free visits. This year, I had a lot going on and never got around to sending them. (I didn't even send my family or friends cards either
) My question is, should I still send them, or would skipping one year be bad? If I should send them, is it tacky to be 2 months late?
What would you do/think in this situation?

Skip it from christmas but make it a Valentine's day thing. Or don't do it at all. I am sure they understand. They get busy too!

What if you sent out "Thanks for your Business" type cards with them in it?

I like Abbey's idea, that way your clients know you haven't forgotten or discontinued the free visits thing. I am very BIG on free stuff and shop with coupons quite a bit, so if I were your client, I would definitely wonder about it if I didn't get the coupons. $1200.00 worth of free visits is a lot though, so if I were you I would put some kind of a cap on it so it doesn't hurt your pocketbook.

As for your relatives, a phone call would probably suffice.

I have a friend who didn't get around to sending Christmas cards out this year, so she sent "Happy New Year" cards instead.

I agree - send a "thanks for your business" card.

Those who are used to the free visits will be looking for them, and wondering what happened.

I would send a thanks for the business cards to. Maybe cute cat or dog ones-Target has some good ones!! I would reconsider the free cards though-thats a sum of money to give away!! Maybe tie it in to referrals??
