another question for you
i have a 15 year old very timid kitty Maureen..... she is healthy and in overall good shape but she is 15 none the less .....

I have a ragdoll kitten coming in may.....

he is a week old right now....

anyway.... I am hearing a bit of and reading a bit of "kittens should be in pairs" ..... I didn't plan on getting two kittens right now.... I do plan on always having two cats but with my puppies i recommend that people put some time in between puppies.... yet it seems this is not the case with kittens.

I really don't want to have five dogs, three cats and a parrot.... I really just wanted two total cats and I don't really have the room for 4 litterboxes.... I also don't want to upset maureen any more than she will already be upset so
do I really need two kittens .... can I put a year or two in between them???
Can I wait until Maureen "runs off to join the circus" so to speak....

I will do what is best for the kitty....
what are your thoughts.

One thing that you should consider. The new kitten will be very very playfull and active. Your older cat won't be up to playing much.It would be to your older cats advantage to have two kittens so the new one won't be bothering the senior cat all the time.

looks like there may be a trip to the shelter in our future..... just the thought of having 3 cats, 5 dogs and a cockatoo ..... yikes.... i am turning into the crazy animal lady on the street.

off to petfinder I go....
now do they have to be the same age or can we get one and then wait at least a little while or can we get one and then adopt an older but still young cat..... ???
what are your thoughts. my husband is not going to be pleased (poor guy)
if I were to get a second cat/third really does sex matter????
new kitten Russell is a neutered male/ Maureen obviously a female.....
does it matter ???
