What kind of things do you like now that you hated before? I used to hate mushrooms as a kid.
It didn't matter if they were canned or not. I didn't like the bouncey rubbery texture. I didn't like them in spaghetti sauce or chop suey or pizza. However, now I definitely like to have them in spaghetti and many stir fry dishes I make. I don't think they're an integral part of pizza, but I'll eat them. I really love mushrooms cooked with a steak now too. They are so dilicious that way.
What the heck happened to the fussy kid I was so long ago?

3/4 of the things I eat now I wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole when I was a kid.

Unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of the
tea. I never used to drink it until a few months ago. Now I think I might be addicted (comes with being a student I guess... caffeine is useful!
)

beans. I used to HATE beans and now I eat them all the time. Especially black kidney beans.

Oh, and when I was really young, I used to hate anything that was carbonated. Then I acquired a taste for it when I was around 10 (but never liked Colas, only fruit-flavored or sprite, 7up, etc.) Now I don't really drink any of it anymore.

Last but not least... rum!

and I'm working on wine too. (but I still have no interest in beer)

All sorts of veggies. I think it is because I now steam them or roast them. My mother wasn't the best cook and tended to boil canned veggies to mush so I think that might be why I didn't like them.

I also used to hate mushrooms and just in the past year or so have managed to develop a tolerance for them. You won't see me eating a big plate of just mushrooms, but mixed in with other things they're alright.

I also never ate much fish as a kid even though we grew up in FL and got amazingly fresh fish. But, now I love fish especially sushi!

I also never ate cottage cheese until about 4 years ago and now I'm obsessed with it and could eat it for every meal!

I couldn't stand mustard until recently, and while I won't say I love it, I'll eat it willingly now, especially this amazing garlic mustard I bought a little while ago!

Beer

Obviously I've never been a picky eater, grew up eating octopuss and squid, always loved veggies.
Beer I used to hate, still haven't aquired a taste for wine though.

I used to hate all kinds of things as a kid that have become some of my favourite foods: yogurt, green peppers, asparagus, mushrooms, squash... mostly vegetables lol

I still can't stand: onions, cottage cheese (it's a texture thing), or sprouts (any kinds lol)

I'm with you on the mushrooms. Used to hate them, now can't get enough of them LOVE LOVE LOVE them! There's an advertising campaign in Perth that talks about mushrooms as `meat for vegetarians' and it's very true.

Also, calamari and prawns - I never used to touch any seafood except fish, but those are delish! Of course, I don't eat them now, but I used to as much as I could!

And, beer is a taste I acquired as an adult, though I don't drink it often, usually wine. Oh, and mangos....oh my God, mangos!!!!!

Wyan, this is not a very inane question!

Yeah I guess I do. I used to have neverending arguments like that with my sisters when I was a kid. It wasn't funny back then. Oh we'd get sooooooo mad!
We we sooooo stubborn too

Oh well, I tried.
There's always next week though.

Anyway, everyone's got some really interesting replies. Mustard, beer, various vegetables, calamari,
(just kidding I've had it) tea, beans. I'm glad I wasn't the only fussy kid.
Other things I used to hate were eggs and butter. Eggs used to smell like fart to me and sometimes I would gag if I was too close to them frying. I couldn't stand butter. Cold yellow fat spread on bread? That used to gross me out big time. I can eat garlic toast, but the butter is melted and has lots of garlic and salt in it. As an adult I eventually acquired the taste for red wine; Merlots and Cabernets are ones I can remember. I used to prefer white wine.

I hated olives as a kid, now I love them. Recently I've grown to love Marmite, which I didn't like so much before.

I have to agree with a lot of the answers already given - veggies, red wine, etc. I still can't stomach mushrooms though

The cats house, we just pay the mortgage..
I've always hated mushrooms they make me feel like Im going to be sick when I put them in my mouth. I heard they were really good for Vegetarians too so I actually tried one for the first time in ages the other day and....... unfortunately the same thing happened.
I used to hate diluted juice. I have no idea why, I think more than anything it was me just deciding as a kid I didn't like it so I convinced myself.
Now I drink it all the time, reduced sugar of course.
There are a million other things I don't like though, I'm pretty fussy. I have actually gagged before while eating a tomato.

Its isn't food related (even though mushrooms have to be chopped up very fine and I will have them in spaghetti and soups).
I never went to like Goodwill stores and rummage sales. However I read so much one of the Goodwill stores has an amazing amount of books-clearance paperback are 33 cents!!! Then I'll check out vases/glassware/craft stuff. Last week I bought a nice white enamel hmm its bigger than a bowl a small tub?? for $5!!! It will make a great planting container!! I cruise antique malls all the time and if I have time this spring will check out rummage sales-looking for the next Antiques Roadshow find!!

ketchup is a big thing, I used to hate it but now I eat it on some things, still not on my fries though!

I'll go with beer too, I couldn't stand the smell of it even before, but now sometimes I actually enjoy the taste purely for the taste and not for the hope of getting drunk..
