A thin layer of snow surprised me this morning, since they'd only called for flurries, not accumulation.

Unfortunately, under that snow is black ice. I found out the hard way when, even taking it slowly, I slid on a two-way road and almost ended up in front of an oncoming grain truck.

Needless to say, I promptly turned around, headed home, and decided today is a good day to take off work.

I think I'll be shaking for a little while here, too. That was just too close.

Been there done that!! Last time I slid on black ice I went in the ditch at such an angle I was afraid the explorer would tip over!!! Then DH has the nerve to ask if I did any damage to the vehicle!!! What about me..........]
The shakes do take a while to go away though.

Me right now -->

We got the same flurries and they accumulated on grassy areas (our spirea bush is lovely) BUT!!!! I just drove home with my heart in my throat after hitting a couple of slippery spots. One overpass had several cars involved (we were headed in the other direction).

There was footage on the news tonight of the interstate. It was bumper to bumper and at least a dozen cars in the ditch. Good thing I turned around before getting to it!

The shakes finally stopped around noon. I can do without another experience like that one for a lonnnnnng time!
