We have had 3 other cats (ferals) totally disappear in the year and 1/2 we have lived there. We do have coyotes around occasionally, but usually we can tell if they've been around - and I haven't heard or seen any signs of them.

What is so puzzling is that Boogs never ventured away from the house or garage. If she wasn't inside the house, she was in the garage.
I hope she is okay.

Any news? Have you read Cat in the Bag (wish I could remember the url of thatsite) and there is Malanie someone who is a pet detecive- if you google either one, I am sure you will find them. There is one fellow too who says most pets do not venture far from home and there is a huge difference between an indoor cat and an outdoor cat in where and how they go. Unless something happened to her, she is prob not that far away. Some people when they hire pet detectives will do a (thinking of the word - you would think I have memory trouble but it is too much multitasking and stress I think, lol) - when detectives make a matrix like thing in the neighbourhood to figure out where the animal could be and check every possible hidey hole and place they can be. Also, some recommend treating a lost cat like a feral one and putting a Have a Heart Trap or trap that won't hurt them. Find her fav food or even some really smelly food - tuna or sardines will do - and setting the trap. You may get all manner of other critters but you may also get lucky and get your kitty!!!!

I will say some prayers for you - please take care and am sending good vibes and hugs your way.

I think we are all finally getting used to the idea, although I still miss her little booger butt so much. I just hope she's safe somewhere.

try putting a used litter tray outside from your other cats, its surprising how smells travel.if she's lost she might recognise the smell and help her to find her way back.

Thanks for the tip! We do already have a litterbox in our garage along with food and water.

Yes, she's still missing. I really think she would have already come home by now if she was going to. She was a rescued stray, and lived inside/outside, so it isn't like she was a totally inside cat that got out and had no coping skills. I think the hardest part for me is that we brought her back from certain death (within a day from when we found her I'm sure) and nursed her back to health. The bond that is created when saving an animal is different - even though I love all of my cats dearly.

A friend of mine had a cat called Charlie who went missing for a year - he simply wandered too far away and couldn't work out how to get home. Ironically, whilst he was lost, he was being fed by the local salvation army just down the road. When they closed up shop, they took Charlie to a rescue shelter where he was scanned to see if he was chipped - he was so, one year on, he was reunited with his meowmy

Don't give up hope - you may still be reunited with Boogs
