kitten pooing in tub why?

my 7 month old kittenhas been pooing in the tub for months now she stoped for a week but started again she gos in the litter box to pee and sometimes poos in it but mostly in the tub and if the tub is blocked off she poos at back door dos anyone no why and how i can stop it ?

when did the kitten last see a vet?? that is the first place to start

I am fairly inexperienced, but I had a similar situation. I adopted a 5 month old male kitten about two months ago who also kept pooing in the tub - until we put a litter box in the bathroom (in addition to the first litter box at the other end of the house). He hasn't had an accident since.

our kittens must be related. i had a litterbox next to the tub for months, and decided it was time to upgrade him to the 'bigboy' litterbox in the upstairs bathroom. that is when he first started using the tub. i took him to the vet, they couldnt find anything wrong. i wound up closing the bathroom door. he used the upstairs litterbox for a few months without any problems, but then found the sink and would use that to poop. what i have to do now is fill the sink with water. it fascinates him and he still tries to get up there, but is deterred.

i have also found out that he forms crystals in his urine, which can become a serious health problem. i know cats try to "warn" their owners by peeing/pooping in different areas of the house. is there a connection? i cant be sure, but that's my story.

Where is your cat's litterbox? Is it the same place it has always been? I have known people who had cats that were doing what they were supposed to do until they up and moved the literbox to another part of the house or changed the litter to another kind. Once cats learn, it is hard for them to change and do something else. Therefore sometimes you get unacceptable behavior like wetting or messing somewhere else besides the litterbox.

I think cats like pooing in the bathtub because it's always clean. So first thing is, is the litterbox kept clean? And secondly, try putting a litterbox in the tub where he normally goes and eventually move it outside of the tub and put a little water in the tub, just enough to get his feet wet. Then you can gradually move the box closer and closer to where you want it. That worked for our kitten.

no she has not gone to a vet yet i have a litterbox up stairs next to the tub and one down stairs in the other washroom one down stairs is with lid and upstairs is not i have put water in it but when the water is gone she will go right back in it the litterboxes are clean all the time the litter boxes havent been moved ever she see my other cat go in the litter box but she dosent use it im taking her to the vet soon tho
