I now know how a child feel when they are getting their teeth!

My top 2 wisdom teeth came in - no pain at all! Now, the bottom 2 are coming in at the same time and they hurt SO bad!

I've taken Tylonel but that doesn't even help at all! I now have a headache from it all - what a pain!!

A question - does anyone think that I'd be able to use Orajel or something like that to help out with the pain? I'm open to ANY suggestions - this hurts!!

Have you had them checked out by a dentist or oral surgeon to make sure they are coming in properly? Orajel will help with the pain of them cutting up through the gums, but not the pain of them pressing against the other teeth as they come in or any other pain associated with them coming in incorrectly.

Now that I have submitted my post, the words finally came to me. I wanted to say that Orajel is a topical pain reliever so it wouldn't help the other pain. It would be like rubbing Orajel on your head when you have a headache (if that makes sense)

I would highly recommend getting them checked out (if you haven't all ready). They can really cause problems with the rest of your teeth if they continue to come in that way. I just had to have all four of mine removed two years ago. In the meantime, I find that Advil or Aleve work better for me than Tylenol. A hot/warm compress applied to the side of your face might help as well.

My top two wisdom teeth came in perfectly straight without any pain. Now I am getting one of the bottom ones & it hurts some, but it isn't that bad for me. I have been lucky, but then I don't have any advice. Hope you feel better!

If they are impacted or semi-impacted I would suggest you have an oral surgeon do it.

If it is done as oral surgery, sometimes medical insurance will cover it.

Wow that is alot-its an oral surgeon????
Way back when I had mine out I went to Shopko dental-they had a oral surgeon on staff for this. This is no lie- both of mine were pulled out in less that 90 seconds!!!!! Yes for both.... The freezing of the gums was much worse IMO.
But then you have these big holes in the back of your mouth that have to heal shut-they feel like big craters!!! So it can go well!!!

I would definately get them checked out! I got all 4 of mine taken out last year since I have such a crowded mouth anyways.

I had all four of mine pulled, rather cut out. They were boney impactions. All i remember is falling asleep and when i woke up they were trying to put me in the truck. They kept telling me to put my head against the headrest but i couldnt do it. my head flopped around all the way home. Everything made me cry. It didnt hurt a whole lot though, and i have a very low pain tolerance.

Mine was done as an actual surgery and I was put under IV sedation. If I remember correctly the charge was $1300, fortunately I only had to pay $350 of that and insurance covered the rest. You might want to call around to price check, and some offices will even work out a payment plan with you.

It just sucks - I don't have dental Insurance cuz it's not really worth it with the coverage that they have around here

I just can't afford to take time off work to get them done - espeically since I'm the one that answers the phones!

You guys are lucky that didn't have to have them pulled!

I was hoping that there was something that would at least relieve the pain a little bit until I can get them pulled

Aww Mackenzie
, I feel your pain.
Actually, I don't, 'cos even though I need to get my top two wisdom teeth out, they haven't really hurt yet! I'm waiting till hubby goes back to work and gets insurance again, even then I have to pay half, and I think that bill will hurt more than the teeth.

Still, I think it's definitely worth doing, you don't want to be in pain.

You might try using ibuprofen(Advil, Motrin) to help ease the pain. And sometimes keeping your sinuses clear will help, too, you can use saline solution & even pseudophedrine (Sudafed). I have been troubled by bad teeth for years, and in some areas, it is just so expensive that finding affordable insurance is just about impossible. I do hope that you feel better soon!
